Software Engineers will design and deploy AI products, solve complex problems related to contract negotiations, and collaborate closely with founders.
Role
Engineers at Ivo design, create and deploy generative AI products. Recent problems we solved include:
1. Representing contracts as merkle trees to avoid redundantly querying LLMs about clauses which have been copied between contracts (many such cases)
2. Building a communicating sequential processes library in JavaScript so we can share code and data between our frontend and backend, while pretending we’re writing in go.
3. Writing an AI agent that generates regular expressions on the fly, to speed up automatic metadata extraction.
Overview
You'll be our ninth engineering hire. We are looking for motivated and curious Software Engineers who can help us make our users’ lives better. You’ll be working closely with the founders.
Large language models have unlocked the ability to solve many contract negotiation problems at scale. Our product is best-in-market (we have a ~80% trial win rate) and rapidly embedding itself into the lives of its users.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelors in computer science/math.
- Experience with Applied AI
- Strong ability to learn new technologies and be productive in unfamiliar domains
- Bonus points: Previously founded a startup.
Ivo might be a good fit for you if you:
- You love writing code, but you love having impact more: We’re a team of engineers at heart, but our #1 goal is building the best possible product. That means making pragmatic choices and looking for 80/20 solutions.
- Would describe yourself as being relentlessly resourceful.
- You have a strong internal sense of urgency. You have a bias towards doing things *today*, rather than tomorrow.
- Experience working in a startup environment is preferred but not required.
- Are excited about the adventure of building a company!

With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.
Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech
- Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
