This is a U.S. based remote position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship now or in the future. San Francisco Bay Area employees are highly encouraged to come into the office one day a week.
About The Role:
As an iOS Engineer at AllTrails, you’ll be an architect of the bridge between the digital world and the great outdoors. You won’t just be writing code; you’ll be building the tools that help millions of people find their way back home after a day on the trail.
This is a foundational role where you’ll contribute to our native iOS apps while being mentored by senior engineers. You’ll spend your time writing clean code, learning our architecture and gaining hands-on experience with a modern mobile stack.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Design and build features in the AllTrails iOS app that power our on-trail navigation experience
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners from design and product management
- Identify and squash bugs
- Deliver performant, reliable, scalable and secure code
- Monitor performance and addressing scaling issues
Requirements:
- Feature Development: Work within our mobile pods to build and ship user-facing features across our iOS applications
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code in Swift and Objective C ensuring your work is well-tested and follows team standards
- Collaborative Learning: Participate in thorough code reviews and pair programming sessions to level up your technical skills and domain knowledge
- Bug Squashing: Assist in identifying, debugging, and resolving performance issues or crashes to keep the app highly rated and reliable
- Cross-Functional Growth: Collaborate with Product and Design to understand the "why" behind features and how to implement them technically
- Familiarity with RESTful API's
- Experience with CoreData, SQLite and other offline persistence technologies
- Self-motivation and a deep sense of pride in your work
- Curiosity, humility, and open-mindedness
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

- Mapping/GIS experience
- Experience developing for Apple Watch
- Experience with ARKit
- Proven ability to quickly learn new technology and processes
