What You Will Do

  • Design, optimize, and implement cutting-edge algorithms tailored for POC diagnostic systems.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and research scientists, to identify the most suitable algorithmic approach.
  • Adhere to established coding standards, version control protocols, and software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) to maintain consistency, readability, and scalability of code.
  • Develop algorithms that meet stringent medical device standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485 and 62304) to ensure the safety and efficacy of diagnostic tests. Conduct rigorous testing, including stress and edge case testing, to ensure high reliability and accuracy under various conditions.
  • Actively participate in troubleshooting and debugging sessions, working with the R&D teams to quickly resolve issues. Use appropriate testing frameworks to simulate edge cases and ensure robustness across different test environments.
  • Engage in peer code reviews to ensure high-quality code delivery, sharing feedback, adhering to coding standards, and fostering continuous improvement.
  • Engage with departments such as Quality Assurance (QA), Regulatory Affairs, and Product Development to ensure that algorithm designs align with product goals, regulatory requirements, and market needs.
  • Develop clear and detailed documentation for algorithms, including design rationale, code structure, and testing results, ensuring that all work complies with industry regulations and can be easily understood by cross-functional teams. Maintain documentation for audit and regulatory submission purposes.

What You'll Need to Have

  • At least 6 years of experience in algorithm development with at least 2 years of medical device experience.  
  • Familiar with at least one embedded operating system (such as FreeRTOS, QNX, or Embedded Linux).  
  • Comfortable with Python, C, and C++ programming.  
  • Solid working knowledge of signal processing algorithms including noise filtering, feature extraction, and data analysis, is crucial for medical devices that process biological signals (such as ECG, EEG, or sensor data). 
  • Strong plus if you have experience developing algorithms for human laboratory testing systems (RP4, CBC, etc.).  
  • A willingness to explore and experiment with new approaches for existing test algorithms, providing quantitative analyses whenever possible.

Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000/yr
