What You'll Do
- Act as a technical owner and domain expert across multiple critical services, driving system understanding, stability, and long-term maintainability
- Provide technical leadership across initiatives, influencing architecture, design decisions, and engineering protocols
- Design and build scalable, resilient distributed systems using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS
- Own and deliver moderately to highly complex features and services end-to-end, from design through production
- Work across backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and, when needed, user-facing applications
- Raise the technical bar of the team through mentorship, design reviews, and hands-on guidance
- Lead the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices to improve developer productivity, including code generation, testing, and development workflows
- Identify and implement opportunities to embed LLM-powered capabilities into production systems, integrating with existing services and business processes
- Apply strong engineering judgment to ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and reliable, balancing speed with long-term quality
- Partner with product, TPMs, and other engineering teams to solve complex supply chain and operational problems
- Drive operational excellence, including system reliability, observability, and performance optimization
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of professional software development experience with increasing technical ownership
- Strong experience with Java (8+), Spring Boot, and microservices architectures
- Proven experience building and operating distributed systems and data pipelines at scale
- Strong understanding of system design, APIs, data modeling, and event-driven architectures
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives from ambiguous problem spaces through production delivery
- Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to raising team-wide engineering standards
- Experience with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
AI & Modern Development Experience
We are looking for engineers who can apply AI pragmatically in real-world systems and development workflows. This may include:
- Using LLM-powered tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Codex) to improve development efficiency
- Applying LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) to solve engineering or business problems
- Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph
- Finding opportunities to incorporate AI into existing systems in a safe, maintainable, and scalable way
Bonus
- Experience delivering full-stack applications (e.g., React, Vue)
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into production systems
- Familiarity with spec-driven development or planning workflows
- Background in supply chain, logistics, inventory systems, or e-commerce
- Experience with high-volume data processing or operational systems
