The FOX Monetization team develops and supports display and video advertising solutions, analytics, and reporting capabilities across a variety of web experiences. We are looking for a mid-level engineer who enjoys building scalable, high-performance web applications and SDKs, solving complex integration challenges, and working with modern browser technologies.

The ideal candidate has experience building production web applications, a strong understanding of web architecture and software engineering best practices, and enjoys collaborating across engineering, product, QA, and external technology partners. You should be comfortable debugging complex issues, optimizing application performance, and delivering reliable, maintainable solutions.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance web-based advertising solutions and SDKs for FOX's consumer-facing digital products.

  • Build scalable, modular, and high-performance software that supports video advertising, display advertising, analytics, and measurement.

  • Integrate and maintain third-party advertising technologies, including platforms such as Google Ad Manager (GAM), Interactive Media Ads (IMA), FreeWheel, and other advertising or analytics solutions.

  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and partner teams to deliver new features and improve existing functionality.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across multiple browsers, devices, and environments.

  • Contribute to engineering best practices, code reviews, testing strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Optimize application performance, reliability, and user experience.

  • Develop subject matter expertise in digital advertising, video monetization, and evolving web technologies.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support integrations and technical initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Typically, 2+ years of professional software engineering experience building modern web applications.

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and a deep understanding of browser-based application development.

  • Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, browser APIs, and client-side application architecture.

  • Experience integrating third-party SDKs, APIs, or platform services into production applications.

  • Familiarity with video playback technologies and web-based media applications.

  • Experience building modular, maintainable, and testable software.

  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills.

  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.

  • Familiarity with automated testing, build systems, and CI/CD workflows.

  • Understanding of software design patterns and object-oriented programming concepts.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

  • Regular, on-site attendance at the workplace a minimum of 3 days per week is an essential function of the position. Selected candidate must be able to reliably meet this requirement.

NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience with digital advertising technologies, including Google Ad Manager (GAM), IMA SDK, FreeWheel, Prebid, or similar platforms.

  • Experience building or maintaining client-side SDKs or shared libraries.

  • Familiarity with web performance optimization and Core Web Vitals.

  • Experience working with video streaming technologies (HLS, DASH, MSE, EME).

  • Knowledge of advertising standards such as VAST, VMAP, Open Measurement (OMID), or related IAB specifications.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
