The Software Engineer will evolve the Integrations platform, design and optimize integration connectors, collaborate with cross-team stakeholders, and participate in team growth activities.
The summary above was generated by AI

At MNTN, we put our people first, full stop. This allows our company culture to be defined by our team members and their shared values, like trust, ambition, quality, radical honesty, and compassionate leadership. It’s why we all really love working for the Hardest Working Software in Television™ (and also why we were named one of Ad Age’s Best Places To Work in 2024.)

We pride ourselves on bringing unrivaled performance and simplicity to Connected TV advertising. Our self-serve technology makes running TV ads as easy as search and social, helping brands drive measurable conversions, revenue, site visits, and more. It’s what led MNTN to being named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in 2023. You can learn more about us and everything we do by visiting https://mountain.com/.

We’re committed to innovation that empowers, not replaces. At MNTN, AI is a tool for growth, enhancing efficiency while keeping a people-first approach. Our goal is to streamline workflows and drive new solutions—without compromising the human element that makes our company great.

So if wanting to do more, own more, and make a bigger impact comes naturally to you, then you may be the person we're looking for to join us in our next stage of growth.

We’re looking for a Backend Engineer to join our new Integrations team — the USPS of MNTN. We move ridiculous amounts of data in and out of the platform with speed, reliability, and zero judgment about what’s inside the packages.

This team is still ramping up, still scrappy, and still building the highway that all partner data will eventually flow through. We wrangle APIs, manage half a dozen data delivery modalities, and route everything to the right teams across the company. Think sophisticated distributed systems...but with the vibe of a highly caffeinated, logistics-loving superhero squad.

If you enjoy learning, growing, thinking before you code (wild, we know), using shiny new tools, and avoiding tech debt like it’s a spoiler for your favorite show, then you’re our kind of human.

What You'll Do:

  • Help evolve the Integrations platform to handle trillions of tuples from hundreds of integrations — because why think small?

  • Own integration connectors end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, monitoring, and making them faster than they probably need to be.

  • Wrangle APIs, live streams, and live batches like a pro in a world where data never sleeps, but hopefully you still do.

  • Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to get data where it’ll have maximum impact (and minimal drama).

  • Pitch in on on-call rotations, sharing the load like a healthy and emotionally stable engineering team.

  • Bring energy and creativity to how we use AI, to knowledge shares, retros, and all the rituals that help us grow.

  • Do all of the above while keeping things elegant, durable, and future-friendly. Basically the opposite of duct-taped tech stacks everywhere else.

What You'll Bring:

  • 3-5+ years of experience as a full-time backend engineer working on a SaaS product.
  • Experience with at least one compiled/JIT language. Golang is preferred, but Kotlin, Java, Rust, C++ are quite welcome.
  • Minimal experience with a messaging system: Kafka, SQS, PubSub, RabbitMQ, etc.
  • A foundation in CS fundamentals: data types, basic algorithms, how the internet works.
  • Comfortable with Postgres-flavor SQL. Bonus points if you’ve worked with data warehouses (Redshift, Bigquery, Cloudberry).
  • A basic understanding of ETL flows. Experience with data pipelines (DAGs) is a plus.
  • Are comfortable on the command-line. Nothing fancy.
  • Can communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical peers.
  • An idealistic but practical mindset: aim for the stars, but focus on what will make the biggest difference right now.

MNTN Perks:

  • 100% remote within the US
  • Flexible vacation policy
  • Annual vacation allowance for travel related expenses
  • Three-day weekend every month of the year
  • Competitive compensation
  • 100% healthcare coverage
  • 401k plan
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for dependent, medical, and dental care
  • Access to coaching, therapy, and professional development

About MNTN:

Our recruiters will always reach out using an email address ending with @mountain.com OR @mntn.com. If you’re contacted by someone without that address and they mention a Reference Code (which we never use), then that ain’t us folks. Tell those trolls to take a hike–you’re waiting to climb a MNTN.

MNTN provides advertising software for brands to reach their audience across Connected TV, web, and mobile. MNTN Performance TV has redefined what it means to advertise on television, transforming Connected TV into a direct-response, performance marketing channel. Our web retargeting has been leveraged by thousands of top brands for over a decade, driving billions of dollars in revenue.

Our solutions give advertisers total transparency and complete control over their campaigns all with the fastest go-live in the industry. As a result, thousands of top brands have partnered with MNTN, including Tarte, Decked, and National University.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
