About Persona

Persona is the configurable identity platform built for businesses in a digital-first world. Verifying individuals and organizations is harder — but more important — than ever, with AI enabling fraudsters to launch sophisticated accounts at scale and regulations evolving rapidly.

We’ve built Persona to support practically every use case and industry — that’s why we’re able to serve a wide range of leading companies. For example, Reddit relies on Persona for age assurance and verification to comply with online safety regulations, protecting younger users while maintaining a seamless experience. Meanwhile, OpenAI relies on Persona to keep bad actors out, protecting one of the world’s most powerful AI platforms from large-scale abuse in a time when AI is reshaping the way we work and live.

We’re growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to join us!

About the Role

As an engineer on the Data Infrastructure team at Persona, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining the data platform that powers our data science and analytics applications. This is a highly cross-functional role—you will work on everything from deploying new cloud infrastructure to writing data pipelines to developing new product features that better deliver analytics for our customers, all while closely collaborating with product, data science, and post-sales teams. We are a small team where every member has a high degree of ownership of our stack, working to make Persona a more data-driven organization.

What you'll do at Persona

  • Build and expand the data platform using cutting edge technologies for the cloud data stack.

  • Design and implement efficient data models to power analytics and core product workflows.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business and product needs into product features.

  • Identify new opportunities to use data in transformative ways across product, data science, and business teams.

What you’ll bring to Persona

  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on data infrastructure or large-scale data systems.

  • Proficiency in Python and familiarity with technologies like Kafka, Snowflake, ClickHouse, Airflow and Apache Flink.

  • Experience designing and implementing scalable ETL pipelines and working with structured and unstructured data.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, including schema design and performance optimization for analytical and operational use cases.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working cross-functionally with product, data science, and operational teams.

  • A passion for leveraging data to drive innovation.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with React, Ruby on Rails, Kubernetes, Google Cloud (GCP), MySQL, MongoDB

Full-time Employee Benefits and Perks

For full-time employees (excluding internship and contractor opportunities), Persona offers a wide range of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision, 3% 401(k) contribution, unlimited PTO, quarterly mental health days, family planning benefits, professional development stipend, wellness benefits, among others. While we believe competitive compensation and benefits are a critical aspect of you deciding to join us, we do hope you consider why our core values and culture are right for you. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
