Qdrant is an open-source vector search engine powering the next generation of AI applications, from semantic search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to AI agents and real-time recommendations.

Trusted by global leaders like Canva, HubSpot, Tripadvisor, Bosch, and Deutsche Telekom, we’re building the retrieval infrastructure layer for modern AI. Recently raising $50M in Series B funding, we are growing rapidly and committed to transforming how AI understands and interacts with data.

As a remote-first company, we believe diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences fuel innovation. Here, you’ll own meaningful work, tackle challenges, and grow alongside passionate individuals dedicated to shaping the future of AI.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Regions & Clusters team. This team owns the lifecycle of Qdrant Cloud clusters, including provisioning, scaling, upgrades, backups, authentication, and the customer-facing systems used to operate clusters across multiple cloud providers and regions.

You will work closely with Product, Platform, Resilience, and other engineering teams to build features that directly impact our customers and improve the scalability and reliability of Qdrant Cloud.

What you will own
  • Build backend services and APIs that power Qdrant Cloud

  • Develop features related to cluster provisioning, scaling, upgrades, backups, and authentication

  • Collaborate with engineers across multiple teams to deliver customer-facing functionality

  • Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design

  • Investigate production issues and contribute to long-term improvements

  • Continuously improve the reliability, scalability, and usability of our cloud platform

Who you are
  • 2+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • Professional experience developing backend services and tooling using Go and/or Python

  • Experience building and maintaining production software

  • Solid working knowledge of Kubernetes in production environments

  • Good understanding of APIs, networking fundamentals, and distributed systems concepts

  • Experience working with cloud-native technologies and containers

  • Strong ownership mindset and willingness to learn

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

Nice to have
  • Experience building Kubernetes operators/controllers

  • Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure

  • Experience with databases or distributed systems

  • Familiarity with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry

  • Open source contributions

We are looking for engineers with strong fundamentals and growth potential. You do not need to be an expert in Kubernetes or cloud infrastructure from day one, but you should be excited about learning how large-scale cloud platforms operate and evolve.

Why join us
  • A remote-first, international team working on cutting-edge AI infrastructure.

  • A competitive salary with additional perks.

  • Flexible working hours and async-friendly culture.

  • High ownership and real impact.

  • Open-source, engineering-driven culture.

  • Choose your own laptop equipment.

For US-based candidates, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package including 401k match, health, dental, and vision insurance, plus flexible PTO policy.

Qdrant is an equal-opportunity employer. We believe the best ideas come from diverse teams, and we actively welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If this role excites you but you don't check every single box, we'd still love to hear from you! We don't want to miss out on great people because of a checklist.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
