Software Engineer 5 - Android Games SDK

The Games Experiences Platform team is the core integration layer between game developers, players, and the Netflix ecosystem. We provide the SDKs, APIs, core services, and foundational infrastructure that enable delivery of delightful, high-quality player experiences with agility, consistency, and reliability.

We are seeking a Senior Android Engineer to innovate and build the next generation of Games SDK product experiences. You will play a pivotal role in building the products and features that enable game developers to integrate their games into the Netflix service. In the process, you will help create an immersive environment for Netflix members to discover and play games.

• Develop product features and foundational infrastructure for the Android Games SDK and corresponding bindings to common game engine plugins (Unity, Unreal)

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering partners to define project roadmaps and build delightful player experiences

• Architect maintainable, performant Android client code with effective documentation

• Design code for testability and write automated tests to help uphold product quality.

• Stay informed about cutting-edge Android technologies and software engineering practices to modernize the codebase, accelerate innovation, and maintain high product quality.

• You are an Android expert passionate about crafting intuitive and seamless user experiences.

• You are a self-starter who excels at identifying opportunities and defining & driving forward-looking technical roadmaps.

• You are comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity. 

• You exude developer empathy. You have great intuition for making a clean, easy-to-use API for game developers to integrate Netflix services. 

• You thrive on cross-functional collaboration. You have excellent communication skills and can translate objectives and concerns across teams, creating greater alignment among all stakeholders on a project.

• You are adept at analyzing data to gain insights that drive product improvements.

We value aptitude over experience, but here are some key skills that will make you successful on this team:

• Exceptional coding skills, especially with Kotlin and Java, and proficiency in navigating different languages and technology stacks.

• Experience developing third-party SDKs.

• Deep understanding of the technical landscape of Android development, and can introduce new paradigms and practices.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $270,000 - $720,000.
