Develop and enhance ad supply integration systems for Netflix's advertising platform, focusing on ad serving, audience targeting, and ensuring effective ad monetization.
The summary above was generated by AI

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

We launched a new ad-supported tier in November 2022 to offer our members more choice in how they consume their content. Our new tier allows us to attract new members at a lower price point while also creating a compelling path for advertisers to reach deeply engaged audiences.

Our Team

The Ads Platform Engineering org develops advertising systems and integrations that support the delivery of ads through our world-class content delivery network. We leverage a variety of Netflix investments and innovations to power our ads - a unique combination of client and server-side ad insertions, cutting-edge content delivery systems, ad encoding techniques, content understanding, and metadata. We deliver ads thoughtfully to enhance our members' viewing experience while achieving excellent results for advertisers. Additionally, we ensure brand safety for advertisers during ad serving, ensuring members see only the most appropriate ads.

The Ads Supply Engineering team creates systems and integrations to help Netflix expand its advertising platform. We achieve this by increasing the supply of content and users available for ad monetization. Using Netflix’s innovations and strategic partnerships, we aim to provide a seamless ad experience while maximizing revenue in a way that respects user privacy. Our tools and infrastructure enable internal teams and partners to efficiently onboard and manage new ad supply.

Our newly formed team is focusing on rapidly expanding Netflix's advertising footprint. As a key player in the evolving CTV advertising landscape, we are developing unique capabilities to stand out.

We seek highly motivated engineers with experience in ad serving, inventory sharing, and programmatic integrations who are eager to contribute to the growth of our ads platform.

Skills & experience we’re seeking:

  • Extensive experience in building integrations with ad servers, SSPs, and DSPs. Familiar with APIs and integration frameworks for connecting with various ad tech platforms.

  • Experience with real-time bidding, OpenRTB, and auction dynamics.  Familiar with header bidding and server-side auctions.

  • Experience in facilitating audience onboarding, targeting, creative ingestion, and 3rd party demand activation.

  • Strong understanding of advertising concepts such as publisher policies, frequency caps, sensitive categories, and taxonomy mapping. Practical knowledge of inventory management systems and forecasting methodologies.

  • Familiarity with digital advertising, adtech/martech ecosystems, and regulatory landscape.

  • Collaborated with ad operations to facilitate campaign setup, measurement, targeting, reporting, and meeting advertiser needs. Experienced in troubleshooting integration issues and working with partner engineering teams.

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities efficiently.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to haves:

  • Contributed to an advertising industry technology standard (e.g., VAST, OpenRTB) or participated in an industry consortium effort, working group, etc.

  • Experience working in the CTV space and knowledge of its unique constraints

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
