ROLE SUMMARY

True Footage is looking for a senior iOS engineer to help build the MVP of a new mobile product. You'll join a small, fast-moving team that uses AI coding agents heavily to ship quickly. We're looking for someone already fluent at building production software with AI agents, comfortable with ambiguity, with strong design sense and the ability to own significant parts of a large codebase.

COMPANY INFORMATION

True Footage is a real estate technology company building software, data, and analytics tools that make residential real estate valuations faster, more accurate, and more transparent.

Our products support appraisers, lenders, and homeowners across the country. Through our appraisal software and analytics tools, we help valuation professionals produce more credible, data-driven analyses and support the completion of hundreds of thousands of residential valuations each year.

We also bring home value insights directly to consumers through Kelley Blue Book Homes, building on the trusted Kelley Blue Book brand.

Residential real estate is the world’s largest asset class, yet much of the valuation process still relies on fragmented data and legacy workflows. Modernizing valuation requires both stronger analytics and better property data.

Backed by a recent $40 million Series C financing, we’re investing heavily in the next generation of appraisal software. That includes mobile inspection technology designed to modernize how property information is captured in the field, along with valuation tools designed from the ground up for today’s appraiser.

This role sits at the center of that effort. You’ll help build a new mobile product from the earliest stages and have significant influence over product direction, architecture, and user experience.

We’re tackling technically challenging problems involving spatial computing, LiDAR-based property capture, floor-plan generation, and large-scale valuation analytics. We’re a small team with high standards, a strong bias toward shipping, and a culture that values ownership, curiosity, and respect for teammates.

HOW THIS TEAM WORKS

We build with AI agents daily, and that's a big part of how we ship fast. You should already have shipped real projects through an agentic workflow — not occasional autocomplete. That means scoping work into agent-sized units, writing the context docs agents rely on, reviewing their output critically, and dropping into hand-written code the moment the agent falls short. AI is a force multiplier, but you keep full ownership of architecture, correctness, and quality.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

  • Help lead development of our core iOS application
  • Design and implement our LiDAR scanning, AR, and floor-plan rendering features
  • Prototype new iOS concepts and new ways to visualize property data
  • Build and harden an offline-first sync layer against our FastAPI backend
  • Work with backend and ML engineers to integrate their work into a polished application
  • Own subsystems end-to-end and influence architecture in a fast-moving environment

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Hands-on experience shipping real projects with AI coding agents — Claude Code strongly preferred, any agentic tool or model SDK welcome
  • 5+ years building and shipping production iOS apps, with deep SwiftUI experience in large codebases
  • Strong command of Swift Concurrency under Swift 6 strict mode (actors, @MainActor, Sendable)
  • Hands-on SwiftData or Core Data, including schema migration in production
  • Experience designing networking and/or offline-sync layers with URLSession (Codable, auth/token refresh, retry, reconciliation)
  • A test-first instinct and comfort with xcodebuild and CI
  • A debugging mindset that chases root causes — into Apple's frameworks and AI-generated code alike

NICE TO HAVE

  • ARKit / RoomPlan / SceneKit / Metal or other 3D-capture or spatial-computing work (we're happy to teach this)
  • Solid 2D/3D geometry and simd math
  • OAuth/OIDC (Auth0), macOS/AppKit, or backend/full-stack adjacency (FastAPI / Python)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
