The Mail Intelligence team in Yahoo Mail powers all the smart features which help our users manage their Business of Life. The team works with the latest ML/AI technologies, handles big data, builds systems which perform at large scale.

Responsibilities: 

  • Build large-scale distributed systems that balance resources, constraints, requirements, and complexity

  • Collaborate with and guide other engineers to write testable, reliable code, continuously deploying to production systems

  • Deploy, monitor and operate large scale production systems distributed across the globe 

  • Automate the provisioning, scaling, and management of our infrastructure

  • Recommending alternative approaches to solving complex problems and utilizing new technology to achieve goals

About You:

You seek out opportunities to interact with smart people who care about strong CS fundamentals that collaborate well, value high quality code and can develop and learn about modernized systems in the Cloud. You own and drive your tasks to completion, collaborate well to achieve your goals, think through scenarios and edge cases, want to learn from your leadership (mentors), and appreciate the broader impact of your work. You will help Yahoo succeed and learn along the way by being a driver of critical projects, team growth and success.

  • 4+ years Software development experience in Java and related technologies/frameworks, (e.g., Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle)

  • Strong background in computer science Data Structures, Algorithms, OS and Networking

  • Experience with cloud native application development and architecture, preferably in GCP

  • Proven experience designing and developing at least one high performing complex server application

  • Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

  • Great communicator, enjoys helping and leading peers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field

  • Fast learner, who can quickly come up to speed with different technologies & troubleshoot issues

  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people, geographically dispersed across the world

  • Knowledge and operational experience running large-scale distributed systems

The compensation for this position ranges from $111,000.00 - $231,250.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
