Join Altera as a Software Architect! The Software Architect provides end-to-end software/services for a specific technology, product/platform, or market segment, including software structure and bounding box, firmware, drivers, frameworks, cross component, interfaces/interactions/interoperability, protocols, algorithms, and applications. Responsible for pathfinding and providing the technical direction for software development and validation. Engages with customers on technical requirements/discussions and interacts with technologists across Altera and within the industry to evaluate feasibility of requirements and determine priorities for development.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of various tools for FPGA products.
Collaborate with engineering and product teams to define tool requirements and ensure alignment with product roadmaps.
Drive innovation in tool capabilities, leveraging the latest technologies and industry best practices.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Engage with customers to understand their challenges and provide solutions that enhance their experience with our products.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation and training materials for internal and external stakeholders.
Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our tools remain competitive and relevant.
Salary Range
The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

Qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
Experience in Full Stack development.
Experience with Agentic AI and Machine Learning (ML) applications.
Experience with cloud-based development and deployment environments.
Experience working directly with customers to gather requirements and provide technical solution.
Developing and leading tools for FPGA or related products.
FPGA architectures, design, and debug methodologies.
Experience with industry-standard development tools and languages, such as Python, C/C++, and VHDL/Verilog.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about tool development.
Proven track record of delivering high-quality software tools in a fast-paced environment.
