The successful candidate will be part of the distributed KBR team supporting the Test Resource Management Center’s (TRMC) Big Data Knowledge Management Portfolio’s Cloud Hybrid Edge-to-Enterprise Evaluation Test & Analysis Suite (CHEETAS) of tools.  We are seeking a highly experienced DoD Software Requirements Analyst with a strong understanding of software engineering, agile development and requirements elicitation to join our dynamic distributed team.  As a Software Requirements Analyst on the BDKM team, you will play a vital role in the development lifecycle and requirements traceability of CHEETAS.  You will be instrumental in gathering, documenting and translating DoD Test and Evaluation (T&E) community needs and requests into actionable software requirements.  You will be responsible for eliciting, analyzing, documenting and managing new software requirements while ensuring alignment of user needs with the CHEETAS roadmap.  You will also be responsible for deducing requirements from existing functionality for previously undocumented requirements and working with subject matter experts and CCB members to sort through the backlog of existing feature requests.  Your ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders and translate user requirements into clear, concise, testable requirements for the software development team will be crucial to the success of CHEETAS.  This role requires proven experience gathering requirements within a DoD environment, familiarity with Agile methodologies, development and documentation of user stories, use case modeling and understanding of requirements traceability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Elicit software requirements from stakeholders through interviews, workshops, document analysis and other techniques.
  • Analyze and document requirements, ensuring clarity, completeness, consistency and testability.
  • Develop user stories, use cases, test plans and other requirement artifacts.
  • Manage requirements using tools like Jira and Confluence.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between stakeholders and the development team.
  • Assist CCB in prioritizing and managing the requirements backlog.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, design and QA testing.
  • Validate requirements with stakeholders.
  • Adhere to software engineering best processes.
  • Support the development of system documentation, including user stories, requirements specifications, user manuals, test plans and end user training materials.

Work Environment:

  • Location: When not supporting a site, this position can work remotely or from a nearby KBR office (if available and desired). 
  • Travel Requirements: This position will require travel of 25% with potential surge to 50% to support end users located at various DoD ranges & labs located across the US (including Alaska and Hawaii).

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • 7+ years of software analyst or software engineering experience within the DoD environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers and teammates.
  • Experience working within an Enterprise Software Development team.
  • Proven experience documenting complex software systems, including big data platforms, cloud-based architecture and data analytics tools.

Desired:

  • 15+ years of software analyst or software engineering experience with 7+ in DoD.
  • Active Top-Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience with DoD Test and Evaluation.
  • Experience with requirements elicitation tools.
  • Knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka).
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

Basic Compensation:

$145,000 - $217,500 (For The Camarillo, CA Area Only)

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
