1021 Creative is seeking a highly creative and strategic Social Media Specialist to lead the social media presence for a pioneering vertical micro-drama platform. This role is perfect for a pop-culture obsessive who understands how to turn casual viewers into loyal community members through native, scroll-stopping content.

You will be responsible for building a social flywheel from the ground up, focusing on the North American market for mobile-first, high-drama episodic content. This position requires a unique blend of high-level strategy and "hands-on" content production.

This role is a contractor position expected to go for 3 months through July 15, 2026, with a possibility for extension through the end of the year, depending on the client’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead social media strategy for our client across multiple platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of social accounts, optimize bios, links, and platform-specific features (hashtags, pinned posts, story strategies) for maximum visibility
  • Promote organic growth and audience engagement by responding to comments and fostering audience relationships
  • Provide monthly performance dashboards that analyze reach, engagement, and click-through rates to app stores
  • Monitor short-form drama landscape and North American audience behaviors to ensure our strategy remains culturally fluent and differentiated
  • Lead end-to-end content creation by writing and producing high-volume social content, specifically optimized for each platform’s unique algorithm
  • Create vertical videos with “cliffhanger” clips, episode previews, and short form content that utilizes trending audio
  • Develop and maintain monthly editorial calendar aligned with major content releases and cultural tent-pole events
  • Help develop and uphold a comprehensive social media brand guide, ensuring all copy is socially savvy and consistent in tone
  • Collaborate with on-screen talent and third-party creators to develop organic feeling promotional content

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years digital marketing experience specifically within content production and social media management
  • Proficiency in social media design and editing apps such as Photoshop, Premiere, CapCut, and/or Canva
  • Understanding of the social media landscape and audience engagement strategies
  • Proficiency creating short-form video content and writing engaging platform-specific copy
  • A deep understanding of North American pop culture trends, audience behaviors, and platform-specific nuances with a focus on Gen Z and women audiences
  • Experience working with cross-functional and remote teams in a fast-paced environment

Job Type: Independent Contractor - 3 months through Jul 15, 2026

  • Possibility for extension through the end of the year depending on the client’s needs

Compensation: Flat monthly rate of USD 5600

Location: United States

Remote requirements: We’re proud to provide a remote work environment that allows employees the ability to reduce their commute and operate within a comfortable home environment. Please be aware that due to legal requirements and the sensitivity of the material we handle for our clients, this position requires that you be able to work a consistent schedule from a location (home office, coworking space, etc.) within your home state or locality.

Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment in accordance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
