About SweatPals

At SweatPals, our mission is to help people build real connections through movement — and empower the next generation of fitness entrepreneurs. Backed by a16z, Kevin Hart, and other world-class investors, we connect hundreds of thousands of “Pals,” hosts, and gyms through events, memberships, and social features.

We believe working out should be joyful, social, and inclusive — not just a solo grind. From run clubs and beach pilates to pickleball leagues and cold plunge socials, SweatPals turns everyday workouts into meaningful social experiences.

SweatPals also gives local leaders the tools to grow their fitness communities from side hustles to full-time, even million-dollar businesses. Hosts use our platform to run their businesses — from ticketing and memberships to marketing tools.

As we scale, social media and marketing play critical roles in turning this mission into a movement. From building a brand people talk about to growing our presence city by city, you’ll help bring our story to life — and make it feel personal, local, and exciting to join.

Role: Social Media Marketing Intern

We’re hiring a Social Media Marketing Intern to help shape how SweatPals shows up online. You’ll work closely with our marketing team to create content, engage with our community, and capture the energy of SweatPals events. If you’re passionate about fitness, love social media, and want hands-on experience growing a brand, this role is for you.

What You’ll Do
  • Create and schedule content across IG and TikTok (posts, reels, stories) with combined followers of 150k across SweatPals social channels

  • Manage DMs and comments, keeping engagement fast, friendly, and on-brand

  • Maintain the content calendar and support campaign execution

  • Support in creating and scheduling marketing emails

  • Attend SweatPals events to capture photo/video content and represent the brand in person

  • Monitor social trends and propose creative ideas for real-time activations

  • Create graphic assets using Canva or Figma for social/email campaigns

  • Source and repurpose UGC from our hosts and community

  • Produce weekly reports on follower growth, engagement, and content performance

  • Run small experiments — testing 1–2 content ideas per month and sharing learnings

What We’re Looking For
  • Passion for fitness, wellness, and community-driven brands

  • Active knowledge of IG, TikTok, and emerging social trends

  • Creative eye for content — comfortable with photos, video, and writing engaging captions

  • Organized, proactive, and eager to learn in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Experience with social media, content creation, or marketing (personal projects, student clubs, or internships) is required

Skills
  • Comfortable speaking in front of the camera

  • Highly organized, reliable, and accountable — able to take feedback constructively

  • Sharp visual instincts — even if you’re not the one designing, you know what looks right

  • Strong short-form copywriting (IG captions, TikTok hooks, meme headlines, etc.)

  • Able to manage multiple projects and keep things moving

  • Clear communicator and confident collaborator across teams

  • Familiar with tools like Canva and video editing apps

  • Curious and trend-savvy — always spotting new formats, cultural moments, and platform shifts

  • Comfortable in live/event settings — outgoing, approachable, and great at capturing authentic footage

  • Positive, team-first attitude with a scrappy, can-do energy

  • Strong storytelling instincts — able to turn everyday moments into engaging narratives

  • High attention to detail — double-checks captions, visuals, and posts before publishing

Our Values
  • Celebrate Diversity: We embrace different backgrounds, opinions, and ways of thinking. We don’t just welcome disagreement — we believe it makes the product better.

  • Be a Leader: We take initiative, speak up, and drive things forward — no matter your title. Leadership is a mindset, not a level.

  • Roll Up Our Sleeves: We do what it takes. No job is too small when we’re building something big.

  • Embrace the Adventure: We stay curious, push boundaries, and see challenges as opportunities. Startups are a rollercoaster — and we’re here for the ride.

Why Join SweatPals
  • Help shape a brand that stands for joy, connection, and belonging

  • Own creative and strategic projects from day one

  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance (for full-time roles)

  • Flexible PTO and remote-friendly policies (for full-time roles)

  • Monthly fitness & wellness allowance (for full-time roles)

  • Team workouts, IRL events, and early access to new SweatPals tools

Perks & Compensation
  • Direct mentorship from the SweatPals marketing team

  • Hands-on startup experience in brand and community building

  • Office perks: drinks, snacks, and weekly team breakfast

  • Compensation: $15–$20/hr depending on experience

  • 6-month internship, with potential to convert to a full-time marketing role at SweatPals

This role requires working in our South Austin office at least 3 days per week. It is a full-time internship (40 hours per week) which can potentially lead to a full time role at SweatPals based on performance.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
