The Social Media Manager will lead AstroForge's social presence, manage campaigns, and translate complex topics into engaging content for a broader audience.
About the Company
AstroForge is building the world’s first commercial asteroid mining company. We design, build, and operate deep-space spacecraft capable of reaching, characterizing, and operating at near-Earth and deep-space asteroids. Backed by significant private investment and supported by active NASA and Department of Defense engagements, AstroForge is pioneering a new class of dual-use deep-space missions spanning planetary defense, space domain awareness, and in-space resource utilization.
Role Overview
AstroForge is looking for a Social Media Manager to lead the company’s social presence and help shape how AstroForge shows up online. This role will manage social media for AstroForge as well as select C-suite and department leaders, turning highly technical work into clear, engaging content that reaches well beyond the existing space audience.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can think strategically, move quickly, and execute at a high level across content planning, writing, publishing, and performance analysis. You should be excited by the challenge of making complex topics legible and compelling to the general public without losing technical credibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Own AstroForge’s social media strategy across company channels
- Manage social media presence for AstroForge and select C-suite and department heads
- Plan and execute social campaigns tied to launches, mission updates, partnerships, hiring, and major company moments
- Build and manage a repeatable content calendar across key platforms
- Write, edit, and publish platform-native content that matches AstroForge’s voice
- Translate complex space, engineering, mining, and industrial topics into clear, exciting, and accessible storytelling
- Grow AstroForge’s audience beyond core space fandom into broader technology, business, policy, and mainstream audiences
- Partner closely with communications, design, leadership, recruiting, and technical teams to turn internal work into external stories
- Identify timely opportunities for AstroForge to participate in relevant cultural and industry conversations
- Track channel performance, campaign results, and audience insights to refine strategy over time
- Support executive thought leadership by shaping posts, narratives, and online presence for key leaders
Qualifications
- 3+ years in social media, communications, content marketing, or a related role
- Strong writing and editing skills with a clear feel for voice, pacing, and platform-native content
- Experience managing brand and executive social media accounts
- Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to translate complex or technical subjects into content that is engaging and easy to understand
- Experience planning and executing social campaigns from concept through reporting
- Familiarity with social scheduling, analytics, and reporting tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects, move quickly, and maintain high standards under tight timelines
- Work onsite full-time at our HQ in Seal Beach, CA
- Occasional travel to support events and/or conferences
Preferred
- Experience at a startup, agency, or in-house brand/communications team
- Experience working with technical, industrial, aerospace, hardware, or deep tech subjects
- Strong understanding of platform-native content across X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and short-form video
- Experience supporting founder, executive, or thought-leader social presence
- Strong instincts for audience development beyond niche enthusiast communities
- Familiarity with creative production workflows across design, video, and brand content
