As the Social Media Manager, you are responsible for curating and creating social-first content that engages and inspires our community in an authentic way. You will own and lead New Relic’s social program from ideation to execution.

The ideal candidate has a strong grasp of social media trends (and can execute them when appropriate), is detail-oriented, knows when to be bold and when to hold back, and is a natural storyteller.

What you'll do

  • Work cross-functionally to plan and execute social campaigns across the globe that advance the company’s narrative, market leadership, and industry-leading innovation
  • Listen to and engage with the broader executive buyer and practitioner community via social channels and external/internal community forums
  • Develop and fine tune New Relic’s social media strategy and execution in order to grow our community, improve brand perception, and increase reach
  • Activate engaging, high-quality, and inspiring social-first content at the right time, and on the right channels
  • Partner with our Public Relations, Product Marketing, Field Marketing, Developer Relations, Creative/Brand, and other internal teams to create social experiences that engage and delight our core audiences
  • Monitor social chatter for relevant conversations around the brand and industry, and have a strong bias towards engagement but also know when to pull back
  • Manage the global social media content calendar, adjusting tactics for specific regions and various brand activations
  • Engage with New Relic customers and users online (replying to, commenting on, and/or sharing their posts, for example)
  • Develop New Relic’s end-to-end influencer marketing strategy

This role requires

  • A minimum of 6-8 years of social media marketing experience in enterprise software or related industries
  • You’ve owned/currently own an end-to-end social program at an enterprise software company
  • You know how to measure and interpret social media metrics and use that data to fine tune content creation and distribution
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skills with confidence to engage not only with your team and stakeholders across the company but also with customers, executive buyers, and practitioners/engineers online
  • Exceptional attention to detail, exemplifying outstanding grammar, language, and copywriting skills
  • Strong self-starter, reliable teammate, and driven project leader
  • You are innovative and always looking for ways to take your programs to the next level
  • You are collaborative and take great pride in the quality, precision, and measurable results of your team and work

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
