Social Media Art Director
Reporting to: Director of Brand Marketing
Compensation: $90,000 - $120,000
Department: Social
Location: New York, NY (4 days in office)
Position: Hybrid, Full-Time

Position Overview:

We're looking for a Social Media Art Director who thinks in visuals, moves fast, and knows exactly what a scroll-stopping frame looks like. This role owns the visual execution of Bubble's owned social channels (every post, every graphic, every cut) across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. You're not waiting on a creative brief to tell you what looks good. You already know.

Sitting at the intersection of creative and social, you'll work directly with the Social Media team to bring content to life that is brand-aligned, platform-native, and built to drive engagement. You can toggle between video and photo without thinking twice, you have a point of view on design, and you don't let process slow down output.

Key Responsibilities:

Visual Design & Content Production

  •     Own all visual design for Bubble's owned social channels including static graphics, motion overlays, text treatments, and video editing across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube
  •     Edit short-form video content from raw footage to publish-ready cuts, including captions, transitions, sound syncing, and graphic placement
  •     Ensure every asset reflects Bubble's visual identity
  •     Select and apply on-brand motion graphics, text overlays, and design elements that elevate raw footage without overcomplicating it

Platform-Native Execution

  •     Design natively for each platform — understanding the difference between what works on TikTok versus Instagram Reels versus YouTube Shorts and executing accordingly
  •     Stay current on visual trends, formats, and emerging platform features; be the first to flag what we should be doing and make it happen
  •     Build and maintain platform-specific templates and asset libraries that help the team move faster without sacrificing quality

Speed, Approvals & Workflow

  •     Operate with a bias toward speed — understand how to get creative approved and out the door without getting stuck in revision loops
  •     Manage your own workflow across multiple assets and deadlines simultaneously, with a clear sense of priority
  •     Communicate clearly on status, timelines, and blockers so the social team is never waiting on creative
  •     Take direction efficiently and translate feedback into fast, accurate revisions

Qualifications:

  • 4–7 years of relevant experience in social media design, digital art direction, or content production — preferably in beauty, wellness, or consumer brands
  • Experience managing photo shoots and video production
  • Expert-level proficiency in Photoshop, After Effects/Final Cut, Figma
    • Strong photo and video editing skills: you can take raw footage to a finished, publish-ready cut independently
  • Deep understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube — the formats, the aesthetics, the unspoken rules of what performs
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-output environments where speed and quality have to coexist
  • Strong communicator and collaborator — you can work closely with a team without needing heavy direction
  • Familiarity with social scheduling and analytics platforms (e.g., Dash Hudson, Sprout Social) is a plus

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
