Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Role
We are looking for a Sales Manager to lead our growing team of Account Executives and increase revenue against individual, team and overall Sales goals. Your entrepreneurship will be a valuable contribution to developing our strategy, growing our SMB sales team, and establishing a culture of crisp execution.

  • Create a team culture of trust, accountability, success and fun where people are encouraged to share information, constructively debate, and communicate freely
  • Support direct reports by participating in client and prospect meetings
  • Develop a team of salespeople, including hiring and training new account executives on sales process
  • Refine the outbound sales strategy, process, and tactics to improve performance
  • Use sales metrics to manage the team and individual AEs, tracking the results and succinctly reporting to senior management
  • Conduct weekly pipeline review and forecast meetings with AEs
  • Coach direct reports regarding strategies to drive revenue and customer success
  • Use the customer voice to improve interactions and product

You Have
  • 6+ years of sales experience with documented sales success with a track record above 100% as an individual contributor within the UK/EMEA
  • 1+ years experience in people management
  • Solid knowledge and experience in successful outbound tools and sales processes
  • Expertise in creating rigour around sales metrics and managing yourself or others to achieve metrics
  • Mentored, coached and onboarded salespeople in the past
  • Partnered with cross-functional teams and departments in a fast paced environment
  • The ability to rapidly hire and train new account executives
  • The ability to streamline decision-making and consider the downstream and upstream effects of potential decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organizational, communication and listening skills

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
