SLED Account Manager
Skillsoft is seeking a detail-oriented and self-driven Account Manager to support our SLED customers (state & local government and education). In this role, you will partner with our Shared Customer Success Team to organize the book of business, keep opportunities and renewals on track, and handle a subset of smaller deals. This is a learning-focused role—perfect for someone with solid organizational skills and a solid understanding of the sales cycle who’s hungry to grow into an Account Executive role.
Responsibilities:
- Own the “operating system” of the territory
- Responsible for renewal and upselling of account, as well as process KPIs
- Maintain clean, accurate Salesforce records (accounts, contacts, activities, opportunities, quotes).
- Build and refresh reports & dashboards; track pipeline hygiene, next steps, and close dates.
- Coordinate calendars, customer touch cadences, and follow-ups across multiple stakeholders.
- Advance deals & renewals
- Prepare proposals, order forms, and statements of work from approved templates.
- Execute-discovery calls, demos, and evaluations with prospects and clients; capture notes and next steps.
- Manage a subset of smaller transactions/renewals end-to-end with oversight.
- Customer coordination
- Schedule meetings, circulate agendas/recaps, log action items, and drive to closure.
- Route customer questions to the right SMEs (solutions consultants, CS, support, legal, procurement).
- Data & process
- Track key dates (renewals, budget cycles, RFPs/RFQs, board approvals) and maintain an account plan library.
- Follow established sales processes; offer constructive feedback to improve efficiency and customer experience.
- Learn & grow
- Build a working knowledge of the SLED buying process (procurement, contracts, cooperative agreements).
- Develop fluency in Skillsoft’s portfolio (Percipio LXP, Leadership & Business, Tech & Dev, Coaching).
- Participate in enablement—product, competition, objection handling, and value messaging.
Skills & Experience Required:
- 5+ years of successful B2B Sales experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Possess strong Microsoft Office and Salesforce experience
- Microsoft Office proficiency:
- Excel: sorting/filtering, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic pivot tables; clean list management.
- PowerPoint: building clear, on-brand customer decks.
- Word/Outlook/Teams: polished docs, dependable scheduling & communication.
- Salesforce: Comfortable navigating accounts/opportunities, creating tasks/events, running basic reports, maintaining pipeline hygiene; willingness to learn more (dashboards, CPQ/quoting).
- Sales process literacy: Solid understanding of discovery → evaluation → proposal → negotiation → close → renew, with the curiosity to deepen it.
- Organization first: Exceptional task management, attention to detail, and follow-through across multiple threads
- Drive to develop: Tenacious interest in learning, asking great questions, and seeking feedback.
- People skills: Clear written/verbal communication; professional, customer-first mindset.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to public-sector or higher-ed customers; RFP/RFQ coordination; experience with sales engagement tools, or e-signature (e.g., DocuSign).
What Success looks like
- CRM excellence: 100% of assigned accounts/opportunities up to date with next steps and close dates.
- On-time renewals: No surprise expirations; proactive timelines and clean paperwork.
- Process adherence: Follows and improves team playbooks; hits checklist milestones reliably.
- Impact on revenue: Measurable assist on AE pipeline and autonomous close of smaller deals.
Target base salary range for this job requisition is anticipated to be approximately $55,000 - $65,000 annualized with average on target earnings including commissions of approximately $110,000 - $130,000 annually.
