What is JetZero?

Today’s aircraft contribute around 4% of global CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 200 million cars. This is only going to increase: Air travel is forecasted to double by 2050, while meaningful efficiency gains using current airplanes have hit a wall.

JetZero is developing a blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft. It uses up to 50% less fuel and will be built to accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. JetZero is the inevitable solution to sustainable air travel.

The JetZero team

We are experienced aerospace professionals and engineers, excited about the future. That future will only be possible if we share our vision and what it means to people’s lives: carbon-free flight that' is better for both passengers and airlines around the world.

What You'll Do:
  • Model Development:
    • Design and implement high-fidelity simulation models for aircraft systems (e.g., hydraulics, avionics, propulsion, environmental control).
    • Translate system requirements into simulation architecture.
  • Requirements Analysis:
    • Collaborate with systems engineers to define simulation objectives based on technical requirements.
    • Identify key parameters and test cases to ensure model accuracy.
  • Integration & Testing:
    • Integrate simulation models into the test lab, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups.
    • Validate and verify models against real-world data and test results.
    • Support system testing with simulation-based scenarios and data.
  • Troubleshooting & Support:
    • Diagnose and resolve simulation performance and integration issues.
    • Provide technical support during system-level testing and certification.
  • Collaboration & Documentation:
    • Work with software, hardware, and systems teams for seamless integration.
    • Maintain documentation of model design, assumptions, limitations, and test results.
What You Bring:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in aerospace simulation/modeling.
    • Proficiency in simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink or Modelica.
    • Familiarity with aircraft systems and operational principles.
    • Experience with HIL testing and real-time simulation environments.
    • Familiarity with Github and software management in a revision controlled environment.
    • Strong problem-solving skills in a collaborative setting.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

    • Knowledge of DO-178C, DO-160, or other aerospace standards.
    • Knowledge of ARINC protocols.
    • Experience with scripting languages (Python, C++) for automation.
    • Exposure to flight simulators or pilot-in-the-loop testing.
Compensation:

Our compensation package is a blend of base salary and equity options for eligible employees. The range for this role is $90,000-$120,000. We consider a number of factors when presenting a final offer, including geography, internal equity and years of experience and expertise.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
