SkyGrid is looking for a highly motivated and organized Simulation Engineer III to develop and own simulation tasks within an IPT structure. This role is responsible for day-to-day development of simulation models, sim framework, and tools in support of project needs. The Simulation Engineer III will ensure effective alignment between the simulation team and other internal teams by managing customer requests involving simulation capabilities and driving the integration of external simulation tools, including those from Boeing and other partners into the SkyGrid ecosystem. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership skills with a solid technical understanding of simulation frameworks and collaborative workflows. 

Performance Objectives:

  • Be a member of the Simulation Team and be the SkyGrid point of contact for customers and partners ensuring delivery of technical and business objectives for SkyGrid. 
  • Develop and deliver simulation artifacts and requirements tied to program review milestones. 
  • Establish and maintain a simulation framework and related models to support development and evaluation of concepts and prototypes for emerging automated operations. 
  • Create and sustain a simulation framework, along with related models, to support development of advanced Airspace Management services and features as part of the Technology Maturation Process. 
  • Establish and maintain a Simulation framework to support formal verification activities towards product certification. 

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the focal point for integration of Simulation tools and resources derived from Boeing, Wisk, and external entities. 
  • Coordinate the simulation team’s efforts with other internal departments to ensure alignment and integration. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer requests involving simulation, ensuring timely and high-quality responses. 
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions when necessary to keep simulation projects on track. 
  • Foster a collaborative and productive working environment within the simulation team. 
  • Support continuous improvement of simulation processes, tools, and methodologies. 
  • Prepare and present technical updates to stakeholders, including internal leadership and external partners. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field. 
  • 7+ years of experience in simulation development, systems integration, or similar technical domains. 
  • Strong understanding of simulation frameworks, tools, and architectures. 
  • Experience integrating third-party simulation tools and APIs. 
  • Experience in software coding (using Python, C++, MATLAB / Simulink or equivalent languages) to build and test system simulation models. 
  • Experience in documenting simulation and design artifacts as a formal handover to the development team for implementation and deployment. 
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, with a proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field. 
  • Familiarity with the process framework compliant with ARP-4754 and DO-178C guidelines.  
  • Previous experience in a leadership or coordination role within a technical team. 
  • Air Traffic Management/Safety critical systems development experience desirable. 
  • Previous experience in Alliance simulation framework   
  • Previous experience with the FMI standard for model integration and co-simulation.
