Kepler executes engineered marketing, where every message and ad delivered helps create a more personalized and productive relationship between brands and their consumers. We do this by acting as clients’ agency of record, as their in-house team, or some hybrid of the two – and by harnessing data and technology across all paid digital media and data-driven CRM channels.

Kepler prides itself on being a great place to work. In fact, we’re proud to share that AdAge recognized Kepler among the Best Place to Work in 2022, validating our investment in our team and our clients.
  • We're transparent with our employees. You'll hear updates on company financials, how we're performing against bonus goals, and how we're responding to challenges we face.
  • We're growing. For you, that means unparalleled growth opportunities and a role in shaping the direction of the company.
  • We're fun. You'll work with and learn from the smartest people in the industry and have a blast doing it.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Temporary SEO Specialist to join our Optimization & Innovation team through the end of 2025. In this role, you’ll work 40 hours per week on a contract basis, aligned to EST hours. You’ll focus on developing and executing SEO strategies to increase qualified organic traffic, improve keyword rankings, and enhance overall search engine visibility for Kepler clients.

This role is ideal for someone with 2–4 years of SEO experience who can confidently handle technical SEO, on-page optimization, keyword research, and reporting. You’ll work closely with Kepler’s SEO lead and client teams to deliver actionable strategies and measurable results.

You’ll succeed in this role if you’re detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working independently while collaborating cross-functionally with marketing, content, and development stakeholders.

What You Will Do:

SEO Strategy & Planning

  • Conduct competitor analyses to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Perform keyword research and mapping to identify primary and secondary targets.
  • Align recommendations with user intent, search volume, and business goals.

Technical SEO

  • Conduct technical audits and monitor ongoing site health (crawlability, indexability, site speed, mobile optimization).
  • Provide actionable technical recommendations to development teams.
  • Manage and optimize XML sitemaps, robots.txt, canonical tags, and schema markup.
  • Monitor for and resolve issues flagged in Google Search Console.

On-Page & Content SEO

  • Create detailed SEO content briefs for new and existing web pages.
  • Optimize metadata, headers, body copy, and internal linking.
  • Identify content gaps and build topic cluster strategies to improve authority.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Prepare monthly reports on key SEO metrics, including rankings, traffic, and conversions.
  • Deliver data-driven insights and clear next steps to improve performance.

Local SEO

  • Manage and optimize local listings via Google Business Profiles and/or listing management tools.
  • Ensure accurate business information and monitor local search performance.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 2-4 years of hands-on SEO experience (agency or in-house).
  • Strong understanding of technical SEO, on-page optimization, and content strategy.
  • Proficiency with SEO tools (Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze performance data and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience collaborating with development, content, and marketing teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Nice to have: experience with local SEO and managing large-scale listings.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
