THE PURPOSE:

The Sensor Engineers within the Sensors & Sensing team will be within the Software Engineering Function. The team works with other teams to ensure the correct specification, sourcing, development and integration of all the embedded electronics for safety critical real-time and other uses.

Ultimately, we will design reliable, scalable, real-time (or near-real time) applications that make Hyperloop One a reality. We are seeking candidates with various levels of experience to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Los Angeles facility. 

THE ROLE:

  • Work to define, prototype and develop processes and standards for sensor systems.
  • Work with third party collaboration partners to use and set sensor standards.
  • Create test plans, and the tools needed to test across many embedded systems.
  • Keep a customer focused mindset, prioritizing developer productivity and application uptime.
  • Champion processes and procedures across the organization.
  • Communicate, present, and defend opinions concerning physical and logical architecture in a productive and diplomatic fashion.
  • Help maintain both agile and waterfall environments with safety critical and safety related systems. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • Experienced embedded system engineer.
  • Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required. 
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language and visuals. 
  • Experienced in working with third party suppliers.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed. 
  • Keen attention to detail. 
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Solid experience in embedded engineering, or a similar role.
  • Experience managing projects with waterfall methods.
  • Experienced in supplier management.
  • Understanding of performance tools, metrics and benchmarks.
  • Experience supporting and performing EMC/EMI testing.
  • Working proficiency and excellent communication skills in verbal and written English.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Expertise in various sensing systems from vision to environmental.
  • A strong background in aerospace or automotive is a plus. 
  • Experience in an RF or EE role.
