Purpose

The Senior or Lead Risk & Reliability Engineer will have the primary responsibility of identifying, documenting, and managing risk for Automotive and/or Aerospace & Defense programs and their associated products. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Issues Management, this person will work with design, manufacturing, operations, and other teams to ensure the best possible outcome for critical program milestones throughout product lifecycles. This role will also work to resolve critical internal or customer issues and will be assigned various projects to help reduce risks to our programs and products.

The Role

  • Take ownership of risk tracking and management for a set of programs and products throughout development, validation, production, and customer delivery
  • Lead/support proactive risk assessments with design, manufacturing, operations, and other teams as required to understand critical risks that impact the programs you support, and provide feedback to improve risk outcomes
  • Organize and run risk and critical issues reviews to ensure technical readiness for key program milestones and highlight key risks to leadership
  • Clearly communicate program and product risks to program managers, engineering leadership, and the executive teams to support informed decision-making
  • Drive structured root cause and issue resolution efforts, leveraging methodical problem solving tools such as fault tree analysis, fishbone diagrams, and 5 whys
  • Influence cross-functionally and drive the implementation of risk assessment and mitigation processes and tools to improve risk awareness and accountability and to continuously improve risk profiles across programs and products
  • Support FMEA and other risk evaluation efforts to improve product and process reliability
  • Lead projects and initiatives to help program managers better anticipate, understand, and manage risks with internal and external stakeholders

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls 
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience with engineering problem solving in design, manufacturing, reliability, validation, test, or quality engineering
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies and failure analysis tools (8D, 5-whys, Fault Tree Analysis, fishbone, DOE)
  • Experience with risk management, utilizing FMEA and other risk assessment tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience launching complex new products from concept to production
  • Familiarity with automotive, aerospace or similarly complex integrated hardware/software systems
  • Experience solving complex, interdisciplinary problems in development and production using a disciplined problem-solving methodology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently, lead cross-functional initiatives, and effectively communicate to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and adhesive bonding
  • Practical experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Familiarity with NX/Teamcenter or similar CAD/design platforms
  • Familiarity with Jira, SQL, PowerBI, and other data gathering / analysis tools
  • Willingness to continuously learn new skills to improve Divergent’s processes and technologies



Compensation

At Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at level E05 - E06 as evaluated through our interview process. 

  • Senior Engineer / E05: $122,400 - $168,300
  • Lead Engineer / E06: $141,400- $194,400



Work Environment

  • Office and manufacturing floor environment
  • Occasional travel to supplier sites, testing events, and other company facilities as required

$122,400$194,400 USD
