Company Overview

The Deep View is one of the world’s leading AI media brands, with 500,000+ subscribers across our newsletter, podcast, and social platforms. We don’t just cover AI—we decode it. In a world flooded with hype, we deliver sharp, no-nonsense insights that keep our audience ahead of the curve and help them put AI to work every day.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Senior Writer who wants to be at the center of the AI revolution. You’ll track AI’s biggest developments, curate must-know stories, and break down what matters most to our audience. If you love diving into business and tech trends, thrive on making complex topics accessible, and want to help shape one of the most influential AI publications, this is the role for you.

You don’t need to be an AI expert—but you do need to be obsessed with news, capable of staying on top of a fast-moving industry, and able to explain emerging technology in clear, compelling ways.

This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role with room to grow. You’ll work closely with the Editor-in-Chief to develop The Deep View’s editorial strategy, build your own areas of expertise, and expand our reach across platforms.

What You’ll Do
  • Write the daily newsletter. You’ll be responsible for delivering a sharp, engaging daily report that keeps our audience informed and inspired.

  • Decide what matters. You’ll sift through a firehose of AI news and pull out what’s truly important, helping our readers separate signal from noise.

  • Curate and break news. You’ll provide sharp, original analysis of AI’s biggest developments, and uncover new angles to differentiate our coverage.

  • Develop your own beats. Whether it’s emerging startups, major players, or the most compelling storylines in between, you’ll own distinctive areas of coverage and become a go-to expert.

  • Test and review AI tools. You’ll be hands-on with the latest AI products, providing insights that help our audience figure out what’s real and what’s fluff.

  • Write with flair. We don’t do dry, formulaic tech writing. Your job is to bring clarity, personality, and authority to our coverage, making complex topics accessible and engaging.

  • Keep us ahead of the game. You’ll help shape the future of AI journalism, experimenting with new formats and helping us grow beyond the newsletter.

  • Work cross-platform. While the newsletter is your core focus, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute to The Deep View’s podcast, video content, and other projects.

What You Bring
  • Exceptional writing skills and a track record of producing engaging business or tech content.

  • A strong news instinct—you know how to spot trends early, connect dots, and frame stories in ways that grab attention.

  • The ability to work fast and smart—this role is for someone who thrives under pressure and can quickly process large amounts of information.

  • A background in writing newsletters, or a strong desire to learn the format as it becomes a predominant way audiences consume information.

  • A team-first mindset. You think beyond your own stories—helping the team succeed, supporting the bigger editorial mission, and contributing to the overall growth of The Deep View.

  • A deep curiosity about AI and the role it plays in society—both good and bad.

Why This Role is Special
  • Your work will have impact. We reach hundreds of thousands of engaged readers every day, from business leaders to policymakers to top AI researchers.

  • This isn’t a paint-by-numbers role. You’ll have the freedom to take charge, pitch bold ideas, and shape how we cover AI—building something great alongside a team that’s just as ambitious as you are.

  • This is just the beginning. As The Deep View expands beyond the newsletter, you’ll have the chance to take on bigger challenges, shape new projects, and even help build a team—seeing your role grow as our business grows.

Compensation + Package
  • Competitive pay

  • Remote operations with the ability to work in the time zone of your choice

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Health Insurance

  • $100/mo Health and Wellness stipend

  • $100/mo WFH stipend

  • 1x/year in-person team retreat

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
