Our pioneering IKEA Kreativ app lets customers visually scan photorealistic models of their spaces using proprietary visual AI tech, reimagine their spaces in life-like 3D, and purchase their design ideas from IKEA on web and native mobile apps - online and in-store.

About the role

We have an opening for a Senior Web Technical Lead with strong Javascript/Typescript Engineering skills, and strong Computer Science foundations, to lead our flagship web application development team.

In this role, you will architect, implement, and optimize consumer-facing 3D web applications. You will develop a high-performance architecture, APIs, and features interfacing between the user, the 3D graphics engine, and our microservices cloud platform.  You will be the trusted, go-to person to solve our most important front-end technical challenges, drive technical roadmaps, and strengthen development processes that the rest of the team can build on.  

You will be the captain and can-do champion of our distributed web engineering team – coaching and motivating the team to excellence.  You will lead the web engineering team to continually improving products, code bases, processes and practices - leading to customer success, efficiency, performance, and commercial success. In this role you will:

  • Be a hands-on technical lead for a team of 3-5 web engineers, guiding design & development of consumer-facing features, web architectures, backend APIs, and other technologies.
  • Develop & improve IKEA Kreativ web feature capabilities, making them successful and loved by customers, and wisely engineered, maintainable, and scalable).  Success is measured in our business results with happy & successful customers, and increasing commercial outcomes.
  • Reliably coordinate complex technology roadmaps with a distributed development team and our partners at IKEA.
  • Be a trusted partner to your stakeholders: your product manager & designers, company leadership, and your partners at IKEA.
  • Drive audience growth with seamless customer journeys: Work closely with IKEA service teams to design, build, and develop an integrated IKEA customer experience - both online & in-store.
  • Design and promote healthy & effective engineering practices in the team: Conduct code reviews to ensure code & architecture quality, write and review software design documents, and drive efficient and effective test automation.
  • Build and nurture a high-performance and high-energy team, which builds awesome things, in a culture based on Geomagical’s .
Requirements
  • Strong foundations in Computer Science and software engineering.
  • Fluency with Internet web technologies and modern full-stack Web Application tech stacks.
  • Expert in modern Javascript/Typescript frontend development and React frameworks.
  • 5+ years experience engineering substantial web full-stack codebases live in production.
  • Demonstrated success solving complex systems engineering design problems.
  • Familiar with best practices of web devops and QA for effective & efficient testing.
  • Experience with consumer internet applications is strongly desired.
  • Track record of success leading small teams for important projects.
  • Able to adjust calendar for meetings with Europe (Eastern Time location preferred).
  • Appreciation for consumer experience and visual aesthetics preferred.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced distributed engineering environment.  Startup experience preferred.
  • BONUS: Experience programming 3D graphics technologies.
  • BONUS: Experience building consumer retail e-commerce applications.
Benefits
  • The USA base salary ranges from $180,000 to $220,000, determined by location, skill, and experience level.
