You are a web engineer who possesses both the technical expertise and the passion to deliver outstanding responsive web experiences. You thrive on optimizing mobile user experience, optimizing performance, and navigating the unique challenges of hybrid app development.

As a Senior Web Engineer at Xello, you’ll play a key role in our shift to a more inclusive mobile experience. You will work closely with our mobile staff engineer to transform responsive web app into a seamless native like application using Capacitor. Angular, and modern web technologies. You will collaborate with web developers, designers, and product managers to ensure that students can access Xello’s full suite of tools, no matter their device of choice. What you'll do ...
  • Drive execution and shape recommendations that refine our responsive mobile technical roadmap
  • Design and implement Angular-based solutions that integrate effectively within a micro front-end architecture, enabling modular development, shared components, and consistent user experiences across independently deployed applications
  • Recommend and implement responsive mobile strategies while maintaining compatibility across existing desktop, Chromebook, and tablet breakpoints
  • Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to refine and elevate mobile-specific designs
  • Support our mobile release strategy by ensuring the existing CI/CD pipeline is optimized for hybrid deployment, using patterns like side-loading to maintain compatibility and streamline releases
  • Create solutions for mobile-specific needs, including deep links, push notifications, other native functionality
  • Optimize mobile web performance by minimizing load times, reducing memory usage, and resolving platform-specific issues
  • Ensure the mobile experience meets accessibility standards and delivers an inclusive experience for all users through features like screen reader support, accessible navigation, and scalable text sizes
  • Work closely with QA to develop a cross-device testing strategy, providing support on mobile-first considerations and ensuring a seamless user experience across devices
What we're looking for ... 
  • Solid understanding of web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue
  • A keen eye for identifying bottlenecks and optimizing app performance, responsiveness, and resource usage across different devices
  • Skilled at adapting web-based designs to create a native like app experience, focusing on usability and smooth interactions
  • Proficiency in setting up continuous integration and deployment pipelines using tools li GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or Azure DevOps
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience using mobile device emulators
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with experience collaborating closely with web developers, designers, product managers, and QA teams
  • Ability to write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code, with a focus on long-term maintainability and scalability
The compensation range for this role is $105,000 to $125,000 CAD. The final offer will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise, as assessed during the interview process.
