Role Description

As a Senior Web Engineer for Dropbox’s web platform, you will help build and scale the technology powering Dropbox.com and other logged-out web experiences, the front door to our brand story and customer journeys.

You’ll craft performant, accessible, and extensible web experiences while helping evolve the technical foundation that supports our marketing and growth-focused surfaces. Partnering closely with marketing, web and product engineering, design, brand, and other teams, you’ll translate business and digital marketing goals into scalable, high-quality implementations that enable experimentation, personalization, and global reach.

This role sits at the intersection of hands-on development and technical influence: you’ll write production-ready code, drive front-end best practices, and improve the systems and workflows that power a modern, data-driven, customer-centric web platform.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, performant web experiences across Dropbox.com, landing pages, microsites, and experimentation surfaces.
  • Own front-end implementation of key marketing and growth initiatives, ensuring technical scalability and consistency across surfaces.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, marketers, and engineers to translate goals into elegant, performant implementations.
  • Contribute to component libraries and shared tooling, improving reusability and performance across the web platform.
  • Implement and evolve experimentation and personalization frameworks to support data-driven decision making.
  • Partner with web engineering leadership on front-end systems strategy, accessibility standards, and modernization efforts.
  • Advocate for best practices in accessibility, SEO, localization, and security while optimizing for speed and maintainability.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience developing modern web applications and marketing websites
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, with deep experience using frameworks such as React (or similar)
  • Proven ability to build responsive, accessible, and performant interfaces, applying WCAG guidelines, SEO best practices, and front-end optimization techniques
  • Experience integrating and maintaining CMS, analytics, and experimentation platforms (e.g., Webflow, AEM, Adobe Analytics)
  • Collaborative mindset with experience translating design and marketing goals into reusable, scalable front-end systems
  • Working knowledge of modern build pipelines and deployment workflows, including tools like Webpack, Vite, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
  • Strong ownership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and articulate technical trade-offs to non-technical partners
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience contributing to or scaling design systems across multiple teams and surfaces
  • Familiarity with advanced experimentation, personalization, and marketing automation frameworks that extend or integrate across CMS and analytics systems
  • Exposure to backend technologies (Node.js, Python, or similar) and RESTful API integrations
  • Experience implementing localization and internationalization workflows to support global audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with clear communication and thoughtful prioritization

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
