Punchcut is looking for a senior developer with strong front-end skills and solid WordPress expertise to join us on a contract basis. You should be comfortable translating detailed designs into clean, modular components and shaping the underlying WordPress architecture to support them. You understand how to build accessible, customizable, and reliable experiences, and you’re confident working independently while partnering closely with designers. You thrive in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment where clarity, quality, and maintainability matter.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop custom WordPress components and blocks based on provided designs
- Set up or adapt data architecture to support scalability, modularity, and long-term maintainability
- Implement clean, semantic, accessible front-end code aligned to WCAG standards
- Build intuitive, configurable admin experiences for designers and content authors
- Ensure internationalization support across components and user-facing flows
- Optimize for performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser reliability
- Collaborate daily with designers and creative team members to translate experiences into working code
- Provide thoughtful documentation, technical guidance, and recommendations throughout the project
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to quickly develop high-fidelity custom components and blocks to realize design intent
- Ability to create scalable systems that support reuse, customization, and quality control
- Ability to collaborate closely with a design team
- Proficiency in modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience creating multilingual/i18n-ready WordPress systems
- Experience integrating external APIs or creating REST endpoints within WordPress
- Ability to craft smooth, considered micro-interactions using CSS transitions and keyframe animations
BONUS
- Experience building interactive forms, data visualizations, or dynamic UI states
- Familiarity with accessibility testing tools and WCAG-aligned development practices
- Experience architecting or optimizing WordPress for performance (caching, queries, asset strategy)
- Experience designing or contributing to component libraries or design systems
- Experience with structured content modeling and custom admin UI development
- Ability to help Punchcut, its people, and its clients understand how to build modern, flexible WordPress experiences that scale
RATE
- For W-2 Temporary Employees:
- Hourly Rate: $59 – $74 per hour (based on skills and experience)
- Benefits: Eligible for sick leave and 401k
- Hourly Rate: $59 – $74 per hour (based on skills and experience)
- For 1099 Independent Contractors:
- Hourly Rate: $80 – $100 per hour (based on skills and experience)
- Benefits: Not eligible for company-sponsored benefits; responsible for own taxes and insurance
- Hourly Rate: $80 – $100 per hour (based on skills and experience)
All candidates will be hired as W2 temporary employees unless they can prove eligibility as a 1099 independent contractor.
