Dreamscape Learn, a pioneer in immersive virtual reality learning design, is seeking a Senior Environment Artist to be a key contributor on the Art team. In this role, you’ll craft visually stunning, optimized, and immersive environments that bring our virtual learning worlds to life. You’ll collaborate closely with the cross-functional teams to define visual standards, guide world-building efforts, and ensure the highest level of artistic quality across projects.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of environmental storytelling, strong technical skills in real-time pipelines, and a passion for creating compelling, believable spaces that elevate learning through experience.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Environment Art Creation
- Design, model, texture, and light high-quality environments and props optimized for real-time rendering in VR/AR.
- Create modular environment assets, materials, and shaders that support scalability and performance.
- Contribute to concept art, visual development, and look-dev for new projects.
- Ensure assets meet performance, optimization, and platform-specific technical requirements.
Collaboration & Workflow
- Work closely with designers, technical artists, and engineers to ensure seamless integration of assets into interactive environments.
- Provide artistic feedback and mentorship to junior and mid-level artists.
- Collaborate with the Art Director and Principal Artist to maintain and evolve the project’s visual direction.
- Partner with Technical Artists to improve pipelines, tools, and workflows for environment production.
Quality & Innovation
- Uphold and refine style guides, visual standards, and artistic benchmarks for immersive environments.
- Explore and implement new techniques and technologies to push creative and technical boundaries.
- Balance artistic vision with performance and usability constraints inherent to VR/AR development.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and innovations in environment art and real-time rendering.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in environment art for games, VR/AR, film, or interactive media.
- Shipped 2 games or VR projects
- Strong portfolio demonstrating environmental storytelling, composition, lighting, and material work in real-time engines.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools: Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter/Designer, Photoshop.
- Experience with Unity Engine and familiarity with scene assembly, lighting, and optimization.
- Solid understanding of PBR workflows, modular environment design, and real-time performance constraints.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a cross-functional creative environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in VR/AR/XR production pipelines.
- Mobile/optimization experience
- Familiarity with procedural content tools (Houdini) and shader creation.
- Background in science communication, edtech, or educational media.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Animation, Game Art, or related field.
- Knowledge of task tracking software such as Jira
- Knowledge of documentation software such as Confluence
- Knowledge of version control software such as SourceTree and perforce etc.
