As a Senior Voice-Over Designer, you’ll harness the human voice as a powerful storytelling instrument,  shaping character, emotion, and player connection through sound. You’ll design and implement interactive VO systems that respond dynamically to gameplay, blending creative vision, technical expertise, and bold experimentation to deliver larger-than-life voice experiences. Your mastery of audio craft, technical implementation, and multi-disciplinary collaboration will push the boundaries of what voice can achieve, elevating how players experience character expression and narrative through dialogue across our worlds. As a member of Riot’s Audio discipline, you’ll model creative excellence, share your expertise to elevate others, and continue to challenge and grow yourself.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with VO and Audio leadership to execute the creative vision for voice-over within the League of Legends ecosystem.
  • Drive the design and execution of dynamic, reactive multiplayer dialogue systems that enhance gameplay clarity, character expression, and player experience.
  • Design and implement advanced VO systems across game engines and audio middleware.
  • Leverage creative processing and design techniques to deliver distinctive, emotionally resonant voice effects.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with narrative, design, art, engineering, and creative leadership to drive a cohesive creative vision for how voice brings characters and worlds to life.
  • Collaborate with voice talent and directors to deliver performances that are emotionally grounded, tonally consistent, and deeply connected to gameplay context.
  • Act as a force-multiplier to elevate the team through mentoring peers, codifying best practices, and advancing the craft of voice-over design at Riot.
  • Advocate for audio and player experience, ensuring VO has the creative influence, tools, and resources to deliver world-class results.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in game audio, with significant focus on voice-over design, editing, systems, and implementation, preferably in a competitive multiplayer environment.
  • Proven expertise in the full VO production pipeline, from initial project conception to final in-game integration.
  • Strong proficiency working in digital audio workstations such as Pro Tools, Reaper, Nuendo, etc
  • Strong proficiency with industry-standard DSP tools and plug-ins
  • Deep experience using audio middleware (Wwise, Fmod, etc.) and implementing assets in modern game engines
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across narrative, design, and production disciplines.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Occasional local travel in the LA area may be required for recording sessions.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience directing professional voice actors in recording sessions.
  • Familiarity with designing and maintaining dialogue systems and workflows within live-service development pipelines.
  • Scripting abilities (e.g., Python, C#, or similar) to prototype, automate, or ideate interactive dialogue systems.
  • Experience developing and maintaining VO pipelines, tools, and standards for large-scale game productions.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about the experiences of players, this could be the role for you!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
