Job Title:Senior Vice President of Regional LendingJob Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participates in prospective customer calls to gain an understanding of the unique business cycles and operating needs of commercial businesses. Works in conjunction with the market to develop business in high growth markets.

  • Works in conjunction with the Lending staff, structures creative and competitive solutions to meet customer and prospective needs, consistent with the Bank’s risk appetite.

  • Partners with regional leadership to develop and execute strategic growth plans and work cross functionally with banking channels and product partners to ensure achievement of goals and objectives.

  • Partners with regional leadership to create a culture of sales and service. Assists in developing associates and team leaders with sales through coaching, motivation, and adherence to company sales and marketing processes. May also assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new associates.

  • Holds ultimate responsibility for commercial credit decisioning in the Market as a voting member of Regional Loan Committee and voting member of Executive Loan Committee.

  • Assists in executing the Market Business Plan by ensuring timely and consistent underwriting of new credit relationships within the business unit, consistent with the risk appetite and profitability objectives.

  • Serves as the leader in ensuring the Market meets its credit oriented Business Plan objectives by providing consistent and complete underwriting of new credit relationships.

  • Continuously works with lenders in the Region to provide guidance in lending activities by offering assistance on credit matters involving more complex situations or requiring close scrutiny.

  • Assists Relationship Managers with administration of the lending function, including adherence to laws and regulations, prompt risk identification and mitigation, compliance with committee approval requirements, documentation quality, credit file quality, and timely, accurate and correct application of loan grades.

  • Manages the credit operational risk of the Market while driving profitable business growth.

  • Ensures adherence to risk policies, implements operational risk processes, policies, and practices and drives business successes

  • Directs the completion of annual reviews and renewals of existing credit relationships in a timely manner and in accordance with Credit Policy in order to minimize credit risk, while meeting the service level agreement.

  • Directs the review of compliance with loan covenants within the Market.

  • Serves as the leader in ensuring the Market meets its credit oriented Business Plan objectives by providing consistent and complete underwriting of new credit relationships.

  • Manages the appropriate balance between new business development, loan pricing and credit risk within the Market.

  • Identifies and responds to changes in the macroeconomic environment, industry issues and business environment, establishing action plans to address customer issues and priorities.

  • Approves new loans and annual reviews within delegated credit approval limits and makes recommendations on all others.

  • Interprets and applies the Bank’s credit risk and operational risk management strategies

Qualifications:

  • The ability to think outside of the box and creatively structure loans to mitigate the inherent credit risk associated with lending opportunities.

  • Must have demonstrated skills in commercial credit underwriting, credit approval, business development and portfolio management for mid- sized companies.

  • Must have excellent communication, presentation and tactful interpersonal skills.

  • Superb people skills to work within a team environment and successfully develop and retain client relationships.

  • Self-motivated to work independently and take ownership.

  • Effective time management and organizational skills are required.

  • This position requires the use of sound business discretion, good judgment, and excellent problem solving skills.

  • Superior knowledge of regulations, compliance standards, market trends and products relating to the banking industry.

  • Superior analytical and decision making skills based on a thoughtful assessment of risk.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business with emphasis in financial banking preferred.

  • Minimum of ten years’ experience as Commercial Relationship Manager and/or training in commercial banking

  • Credit underwriting background in Commercial Real Estate and C & I lending

Computer and Software Skills:

  • Demonstrated skill proficiency in Microsoft Office. Advanced proficiency in a variety of software and PC functions and a high level of confidence in learning a variety of software for databases, spreadsheets.

Compensation: Pay range for new hires is generally $225,000 - $275,000.

In addition, the role is eligible for an annual bonus and restricted stock grants.
