We are seeking a highly skilled Senior VFX Artist (Project Hire) with a drive for crafting volumetrics, environment, and bespoke FX for in-game and cinematic AAA content. Your work will drive the dynamic nature of our games and push the boundaries of real-time visual effects. You will join a team of passionate, driven creatives striving to set the visual bar for VFX and push the industry to new heights of realism, gameplay, and storytelling!  

Responsibilities:  

  • Produce photorealistic real-time visual effects, including explosions, fire, weapon FX, smoke, clouds, and debris using Unreal Engine and tools such as Houdini. 
  • Collaborate with Environment, Lighting, Animation and Design to support both artistic and gameplay requirements for VFX across gameplay and cinematics. 
  • Help research new workflows and proactively contribute to documentation. 
  • Ensure VFX content is performant and within budget. 
  • Work with Leads and Production to estimate and plan VFX tasks for upcoming milestones, breakdown deliverables, and share updates. 

Requirements & Skills:  

  • Experience creating realistic and compelling VFX for Games, Film/TV, or both. 
  • Understanding of in-game VFX performance, tuning and memory budgets. 
  • Knowledge of Unreal Engine, Niagara and Blueprint. 
  • Understanding of modeling, shading, and animation workflows. 
  • Strong understanding of PBR concepts, strong understanding of physics.  
  • Portfolio of real-time FX work, preferably in photorealistic style. 
  • 3+ years of experience in VFX for games, visual effects, film, etc.  
  • (Bonus) Experience with Houdini, 3ds Max, Maya, etc. 
  • (Bonus) Experience with Python scripting. 
  • (Bonus) Experience working in film/TV.  

Qualities:  

  • Self-motivated and able to work well in a multi-discipline team environment  
  • Strong artistic eye for volume, energy, weight, density, timing, and other dynamic aesthetics. 

This is a temporary “Project Hire” position. The anticipated duration of this assignment will vary. TNM Project Hire employees will be eligible to participate in a number of TNM benefit plans such as medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, and flexible PTO.
TNM considers a number of factors when determining each role's base pay range, including industry benchmarks, location, experience, and other job specific skills. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is U.S. only and not applicable for locations outside of the U.S.

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $121,000 - $155,000
