Role Summary

The Senior Value Stream Product Manager owns one full value stream — or two adjacent streams — across industries in the vertical product portfolio, with broad cross-industry adoption of its capabilities. Working at the intersection of product, data/AI, and the pods that build and operate the stream, this role builds reusable, high-impact workflows, capabilities, and AI-enabled experiences that can be adopted broadly, localized where needed, and measured rigorously against customer and business key metrics.

This is an individual-contributor role reporting to the Portfolio VP for the vertical. Bringing deep workflow and customer-problem thinking, the Senior Value Stream Product Manager determines methods and procedures on new assignments, resolves complex tradeoffs between reuse and industry localization, and anchors roadmap prioritization in voice-of-the-customer input and evidence of the value stream's key customer pain points, while coordinating the activities of more junior Value Stream PMs or cross-functional pod leads.

What this role owns — and what stays with Industry Product Leaders

Owned by this role: the value stream's vision, problem framing, and roadmap; the reusable workflow capabilities and AI-enabled experiences themselves; discovery, prioritization, experimentation, and instrumentation for the stream; and the standards for reuse, handoff quality, and roadmap clarity across teams contributing to it.

Remains with Industry Product Leaders: industry-specific strategy, P&L ownership, commercialization, and executive customer relationships. This role partners with Industry Product Leaders to adapt the value stream to vertical nuances; it does not own the industry business outcome.

What You'll Do

Define the vision and roadmap for the value stream

  • Set the vision. Define the vision, problem framing, customer outcomes, and roadmap for one full value stream with significant cross-industry adoption (or two adjacent streams), grounding it in voice-of-the-customer input so the roadmap reflects real, evidenced customer pain points rather than assumption.
  • Think AI-native. Treat data quality, evaluation, and human-in-the-loop design as part of the product itself, not separate implementation details.
  • Build reusable, scalable capabilities
  • Build for reuse. Build reusable workflow capabilities, AI-assisted experiences, and product patterns that can scale across multiple industries.
  • Partner with industry leaders. Partner with Industry Product Leaders to adapt the value stream to vertical nuances without sacrificing shared architecture and product consistency.
  • Set standards for reuse. Establish standards for reuse, handoff quality, and roadmap clarity across the teams contributing to the value stream.

Run discovery, experimentation, and instrumentation

  • Own discovery and experimentation. Own discovery, prioritization, experimentation, and instrumentation for the value stream, prioritizing roadmap items based on voice-of-the-customer input and evidence of key customer pain points, and using data to improve conversion, task success, and customer experience.
  • Define the technical building blocks. Work with pods to define the events, APIs, data models, prompts, evaluations, and guardrails required to operate the value stream(s) at scale.

Improve the economics of the value stream

  • Drive the lead metric. Continuously improve the economics of the value stream by increasing adoption, reducing friction, and improving AI quality and workflow completion — tracked through the lead metric(s) for the value stream(s).
  • Guide junior product talent
  • Coordinate, informally. May coordinate the activities of more junior Value Stream PMs or cross-functional pod leads on shared initiatives, without formal management responsibility.

Who You'll Work With

Industry Product Leaders (Growth Product Leaders), Pods, Data/AI, Analytics, Product Operations, Professional Services, Product Marketing and Customer Success. You will be the primary owner of the reusable product capability and the day-to-day product partner for the teams building and operating the value stream, and you will network with key external contacts outside your own area.

Qualifications
Required

  • Typically 8+ years in product management, workflow product, platform product, or domain PM roles in software or SaaS, with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years with a Master's; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Full understanding of the assigned value stream — its business capabilities, customer outcomes, instrumentation, and AI economics.
  • Strong record of shipping products that improve customer outcomes and leading business metrics.
  • Fluent in discovery, experimentation, and KPI design, with the product judgment of a seasoned, career-level value stream PM.
  • Proven ability to translate voice-of-the-customer input and evidence of customer pain points into prioritized, high-impact roadmap decisions, not just internally sourced ideas.
  • Excellent product discovery, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of AI product design, prompt and evaluation concepts, and human-in-the-loop workflow design.
  • Experience informally coordinating the work of more junior Value Stream PMs or cross-functional pod leads.
  • Value-Stream-Specific Experience (varies by assignment)
  • One of the following areas of demonstrated expertise applies, depending on which value stream the role is assigned to:
  • Growth and Delight: 5+ years leading products related to customer experience, sales, and funnel management, such as CX, CRM, or MAP.
  • Produce and Deliver Products or Services: 5+ years leading products or functions related to operational aspects of production management or GTM motions, such as project management, inventory, logistics, shipping, or similar systems.
  • Optimize Revenue and Financial Efficiency: 5+ years leading products related to accounting, AR/AP, invoicing/billing, or payments.
  • Empower Employees: 5+ years leading products related to employee engagement, training, or hiring, such as LMS, ATS, or skill management platforms.

How Success Is Measured

Performance is measured on a paired set of leading and outcome indicators across the role:

  • Adoption and activation. Activation and adoption of value-stream capabilities that lead to improvement in the leading value stream metric(s), and release adoption and measurable outcome lift after launch, with roadmap items traceable back to voice-of-the-customer input and the key customer pain points they resolve.
  • Workflow performance. Workflow conversion, task completion, or cycle-time improvement, alongside customer satisfaction, effort reduction, and usability of the stream.
  • Reuse and AI quality. Reuse rate of shared capabilities across multiple industries with limited duplication, and AI quality measures such as accuracy, containment, escalation quality, or guardrail adherence, consistently meeting bar at scale.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
