YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own the design process, including concept design, product definition, interaction, and visual design, for complex features.
  • Help translate abstract user research insights and business requirements into structured, scalable design solutions that seamlessly integrate with the existing design system.
  • Help transform broad, conceptual ideas into valuable user experiences that seamlessly blend functionality with ease-of-use.
  • Apply systematic design principles to solve complex UX challenges, ensuring consistency and reusability across multiple product features and platforms.
  • Contribute to the development, refinement and maintenance of core UI components, patterns, and design guidelines within our comprehensive design system, ensuring consistency and scalability of design elements and patterns across the platform.
  • Partner with engineers to provide implementation guidance, ensuring features maintain high quality and alignment with the design vision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, researchers, engineers, and fellow designers, to bring designs to life and ensure a cohesive experience.
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops and presentations to educate stakeholders on design system capabilities and best practices.
  • Contribute to planning and vision on key company initiatives by collaborating with product managers, engineers and researchers.
  • Support the planning and execution of usability testing sessions, gathering valuable feedback from users and iterating on designs based on user insights.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our designs remain innovative and competitive.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 - 7+ years of professional UX Design experience.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in crafting user-centered digital TV and media consumer products inclusive of tv and mobile apps, websites, and/or operating systems.

  • Proficiency with industry-standard design and prototyping tools (Figma).
  • Strong understanding and exposure to the use and maintenance of design systems.
  • Experienced working across organizational boundaries and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to or leading the development and maintenance of design systems.
  • Strong understanding of user research methodologies and the ability to translate research findings into actionable design insights.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex design decisions to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
