Reporting to the Manager UI/UX, the Senior User Experience (UX) Designer is one of Availity’s biggest user advocates, evangelizing a user-centered design process and building user empathy across the company. You’ll be working alongside product teams to identify and design delightful solutions for our users’ problems. You will take on higher profile, more mission critical projects for the team, and provide oversight and mentoring for projects assigned to more junior designers.

You will create designs that improve the overall usability and usefulness of Availity’s products, based on the goals of the business. You will add context and insight to the development of new applications and features based on research conducted alongside our User Research team. You will have the latitude to independently create deliverables such as sketches, wireframes, mockups, interactive prototypes, storyboards, user journey maps, user flows and stories, and new design system components to meet the requirements of the product teams and the company’s experience vision.

What you will be doing: 

  • Focusing on design systems and high-end strategy.

  • Working with Product leaders to prioritize projects that align with business values.

  • Defining and implementing foundational processes.

  • Working to mature our design library and system creation/governance.

  • Collaborating and working with individuals within the greater UX team.

  • Spending ~25% of your time refining design system.

  • Spending ~75% of your time on product design.

To be qualified for this role, you have: 

  • 5+ years of progressive work experience designing and developing great user interactions, solving complex business problems with user centered design solutions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in User Experience Design and Technology, Interaction Design, Web Design & New Media, Interactive Digital Media or Computer Science preferred, or equivalent work experience. Degree in graphic design/experience in graphic design is highly preferred.

  • Expert level experience in Figma.

  • Strong understanding of HCI.

  • Familiarity with JIRA.

  • Experience with Miro, Mural, and/or FigJam.

  • Proficiency with rapid design software (ex. Adobe CC, Axure)

  • Experience facilitating design reviews with business leaders and conducting user research like usability studies.

  • Knowledge of web development methodologies (preferably Agile/Scrum), application design, navigation, and information architecture.

  • Experience designing end-to-end user experience for large scale apps and products.

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across the organization.

  • A passion to advocate for and empathize with our users.

  • Familiarity with user-centered design and design thinking.

  • Previous experience building and maintaining design systems.

  • SAFe Agile experience is a plus.

  • Healthcare experience is a plus.

Video Camera Usage:
