Build a Brilliant Future with Corix, a Hiscox Company!

The Senior UX Designer – Insurance Platforms role at Corix, a Hiscox Company, is responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and continuous improvement of user experiences that power critical insurance technology workflows, including submissions, quoting, binding, issuance, and policy maintenance. This role focuses on creating intuitive, scalable, and component-driven design systems that support brokers, underwriters, and internal teams while driving efficiency and consistency across operations.

Core responsibilities include leading UX design for insurance product configurations, administrative tools, and underwriting file management, ensuring seamless workflows and reduced friction for both external and internal stakeholders. The Senior UX Designer will translate complex insurance processes into simple, usable experiences, partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineering, and business teams to ensure designs are validated, feasible, and aligned with business outcomes.

This position plays a critical role in shaping how software functions and ships—designs are required before development can occur. By owning experience strategy and design execution, the Senior UX Designer ensures usability, operational efficiency, and scalable design systems that accelerate product delivery, enable faster iterations, and drive adoption across the platform.

The Team

Corix is a start-up within Hiscox that builds innovative insurance technology products and platforms that streamline underwriting and policy servicing, unlock actionable insights, and elevate the digital experience for our brokers and customers. Corix operates as an independent, product-led company while progressively integrating into Hiscox to help transform its business model to be more technology-forward and customer-centric. We leverage agile, outcome-based delivery with cross-functional teams aligned to key business capabilities and shared architectural standards. As we scale within the Hiscox group, we are focused on modernizing core systems and workflows, expanding our suite of digital insurance products, and continuously adapting to evolving market, regulatory, and technology trends to drive sustainable, profitable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Lead UX design across end-to-end insurance workflows, including submissions, quoting, binding, issuance, and policy maintenance.
  • Deliver new product experiences (0 → 1) while continuously refining and optimizing existing workflows for usability and operational efficiency.
  • Own UX design for insurance product configuration projects, ensuring each product implementation has clear, validated, and scalable user flows and interfaces.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Technical Engineering Leads, and business stakeholders to translate complex insurance workflows into intuitive, efficient, and accessible user experiences.
  • Facilitate design workshops, discovery sessions and interviews, and usability reviews to align on user needs, requirements, and success criteria.
  • Define UX patterns, interaction models, and guidelines that minimize friction and standardize workflows across broker, underwriter, and operations experiences.
  • Create high-quality artifacts—including user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed UI specifications—to guide engineering implementation.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure designs are feasible, accurately implemented, and continuously iterated on based on user feedback and performance data.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3-7 years experience as a UX or Product Designer, ideally within insurance, fintech, or other regulated industries.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design—from discovery and user research through interaction design, visual design, and delivery.
  • Experience building, scaling, and maintaining design systems and component libraries across multiple products or teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex, multi-step workflows into clear, simple, and intuitive user experiences.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and business stakeholders in agile, cross-functional environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with a bias for clarity, usability, and measurable impact.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch) and familiarity with component-driven design practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present and defend design decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly organized, with strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple initiatives, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
