At Riot, our mission is to make it better to be a player. That mission shows up everywhere we design. From the games themselves to the platforms that connect players to each other and to Riot. Designing for a global audience across multiple games and devices comes with real complexity. Our User Experience discipline helps turn that complexity into experiences players actually care about. UX Designers at Riot work in high-scope, ambiguous spaces. They’re trusted to shape product direction through thoughtful, player-centered design.

As a Senior User Experience Designer on the Riot Mobile team within Publishing Platform, you’ll help shape how players experience Riot beyond active gameplay. Riot Mobile is a core channel for highly engaged players and the broader Riot ecosystem. In this role, you’ll lead UX design for Riot Mobile experiences spanning multiple features and systems. You’ll focus on creating cohesive, end-to-end experiences for Riot Mobile. From early concepts through development and iteration, you’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Visual Design to ship meaningful, scalable experiences for players. You’ll report to the UX Manager for Channel Experiences on Publishing Platform.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead UX design for our Riot Mobile team, operating as a part of team leadership.
  • Translate player needs, product goals, and technical constraints into intuitive interaction models, UX flows, and mobile-first designs that span multiple features, systems, and touchpoints.
  • Synthesize insights from player research, analytics, and existing Riot knowledge to inform design strategy and decisions.
  • Deliver the appropriate level of design artifacts for the team, including strategy articulation, journey maps, flows, wireframes, mockups, and/or prototypes.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Visual Designers, and QA to explore solutions, align on trade-offs, and deliver high-quality experiences.
  • Clearly communicate design vision and rationale to the team, cross-functional stakeholders and partners.
  • Advocate for player needs in product discussions, helping teams make informed trade-offs that improve long-term player experience.
  • Support and mentor early-career designers through critique and collaboration, helping raise the overall quality of design craft.
  • Actively participate in the Riot UX community, seeking and providing feedback to strengthen design culture and shared practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience designing digital experiences, products, or platforms as a UX Designer, Product Designer, Interaction Designer, or similar role.
  • Experience designing and shipping mobile experiences (iOS and/or Android).
  • Proficient with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or other modern design and prototyping tools.
  • A professional portfolio with examples of your past work.
Desired Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction/ Interface Design, Communication Design, Graphic Design, or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with games or large-scale, multi-product ecosystems.
  • Experience collaborating across platforms (mobile, web, desktop, console).

We will review case studies of your past work as a part of the application process, so please provide a portfolio link or PDF (as a cover letter) with your application.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!

Our Perks:

Riot focuses on work/life balance, shown by our open paid time off policy and other perks such as flexible work schedules. We offer medical, dental, and life insurance, parental leave for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and children, and a 401k with company match. Check out our benefits pages for more information.

At Riot Games, we put players first. That mission drives every decision in our quest to create games and experiences that make it better to be a player. Whether you’re working directly on a new player-facing experience or you’re supporting the company as a whole, everyone at Riot is part of our mission. And just like in our games, we’re better when we work together. Our goal is to create collaborative teams where you are empowered to bring your unique perspective everyday. If that sounds like the kind of place you want to work, we’re looking forward to your application.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
