About Us

WitnessAI enables safe and effective adoption of enterprise AI, through security and governance  guardrails for public and private LLMs. The WitnessAI Secure AI Enablement Platform provides visibility of employee AI use, control of that use via AI-oriented policy, and protection of that use via  data and topic security. We're passionate about helping our customers succeed, and we're looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer with deep design systems expertise to help us scale.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Senior UI/UX Designer to lead and evolve our design system while crafting high-impact product experiences across our platform. This role blends design systems strategy with hands-on product design execution. You’ll partner closely with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers to bring clarity, polish, and consistency to every user touchpoint.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact opportunity for someone who thrives in early-stage environments, values design craftsmanship, and wants to create elegant experiences that enable enterprises to safely adopt AI.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set the aesthetic direction: Define a cohesive visual language in partnership with marketing and brand that spans all user touchpoints.

  • Reimagine security UX: Design intuitive, approachable, and delightful experiences that challenge outdated enterprise dashboard conventions—aim to stop traffic at RSA.

  • Own the design system: Identify needs and create scalable components and patterns that drive consistency, speed, and quality across the product.

  • Champion craftsmanship: Obsess over visual and interaction details that elevate the overall experience.

  • Build a best-in-class Figma library: Maintain a powerful, reusable component system for rapid prototyping and seamless design-to-code translation—stay sharp on Figma’s evolving capabilities.

  • Lead generative AI workflows: Innovate with tools like Cursor, v0, Builder.io, Bolt, and Lovable to accelerate design-to-build velocity using AI.

  • Document with clarity: Collaborate with Engineering to publish a single source of truth in Storybook, using AI tooling to scale documentation and usage guidelines.

  • Simplify complexity: Understand personas, workflows, and pain points—then turn advanced AI security concepts into intuitive, end-to-end product experiences.

  • Partner with Engineering: Ensure alignment between Figma components and frontend technologies (React, shadcn/ui, Tailwind, Recharts).

  • Maintain a high bar for quality: Review and sign off on UI implementations to ensure they meet design standards before they ship.

  • Ensure accessibility compliance: Make sure designs and code meet WCAG standards to support inclusive experiences.

  • Design for scale: Create layouts that work fluidly across devices—from mobile to large enterprise displays.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with 1–2+ years focused on design systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, HCI, Fine Art, or a related field.

  • Proven experience creating and scaling component libraries and design systems.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating systems thinking, interaction design, and visual polish.

  • Proficiency with Figma, including auto layout, variables/tokens, and advanced component architecture.

  • Strong grasp of typography, layout, color theory, and iconography.

  • Experience working with engineers using tools like Storybook and design-to-code workflows.

  • Solid understanding of WCAG accessibility standards and responsive design best practices.

  • Experience in startup or high-growth product environments.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Design Systems, Visual Communication, or related field.

  • Experience designing for technical products (developer tools, dashboards, security platforms).

  • Familiarity with frontend technologies (HTML/CSS/React).

  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open source design systems.

  • Interest or experience in cybersecurity or AI, or the ability to quickly ramp up on technical domains.

Benefits:

  • Hybrid work environment

  • Competitive salary

  • Health, dental and vision insurance

  • 401(k) plan

  • Opportunities for professional development and growth

  • Generous vacation policy

Salary range: $160,000 - $200,000

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
