About Branch

Branch is on a mission to make insurance more accessible, so more people can be covered. We innovate using data, tech, and automation to simplify insurance from start to finish—we eliminated inaccurate quotes in favor of real prices, created a better way to bundle, and cut unnecessary costs in the traditional insurance process. Then we pass those savings along to our members. Basically, we’re doing insurance the way it was meant to be.

But we didn’t just create the insurance we’ve always wanted, we also created the company we’ve always wanted to work for. As we redefine insurance, we also want to redefine what it means to work in insurance. Find out for yourself.

Branch has a preference for candidates in Ohio, but is open to candidates located in AZ, FL, GA, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MD, MI, MO, NV, NC, OH, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, and WI. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Branch is remote first, with most Branchers choosing to work from home. Our headquarters are located in Columbus, Ohio, where we come together from time to time to build relationships and connect with each other in real life. We also have office space in Columbia and Concordia, Missouri as well as Forreston, Illinois. Once a year, the entire company gathers for “BranchFest”, a highlight of the year for many Branchers.

About the role

Branch’s Senior Territory Manager owns a defined state (or set of states) and grows the volume and quality of business submitted by independent agencies in that territory. You carry a production target and are accountable for hitting it.

This is a relationship-first, feet-on-the-street role: you'll be the face of Branch to agency principals and producers, responsible for building trust, driving adoption of Branch's quoting tools, and coaching agencies toward writing business that fits our appetite.

The role replaces a remote, digitally delivered agency management model with an in-person, field-based one. Your presence in the territory is the product. You set your own call plan, decide where your time is best spent across your agency base, and defend those choices against your number.

The most successful Territory Managers are commercially direct. They are comfortable asking an agency for a commitment and holding them to it. They diagnose why an agency isn’t producing and they reframe objections around total value. They run a disciplined week without anyone telling them where to be and they bring what they hear in the field back to Branch in a form the business can act on.

This role sits at the center of Branch's IA go-to-market strategy and reports to the Director, Territory Management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the territory. Build and segment a target agency list OR Manage a segmented target agency list], and decide where your time goes - which relationships to build, which to rebuild, which to prioritize against your production target. You set and iterate on a territory plan; your manager reviews it.

  • Own the number. Carry a production target for bound premium and policy count in your territory. Maintain a pipeline view of appointed agencies, quoting trends, and bound premium by agency. Track against target throughout the period, flag haps early, and adjust your plan to close them.

  • Get in front of agents. Run and log a consistent cadence of in-person agency visits, lunch-and-learns, and local events to build face-to-face relationships with principals and producers.

  • Ask for commitments: Leave priority agency conversations with specific production commitments

  • Pitch Branch effectively. Clearly communicate Branch's frictionless value proposition, appetite, and differentiators and ensure target producers understand Branch’s core value.

  • Drive quality quoting behavior. Educate agencies on Branch's ideal risk profile so the business they quote binds, retains, and performs.

  • Champion staff-first quoting. Train the relevant stakeholders at agencies to quote in Branch's quoting platform before going into a comparative rater.

  • Activate and retain producing agencies. Grow the share of target agencies that produce with consistency, and re-engage those that go quiet.

  • Address objections directly. Regularly address objections agencies and shoppers may have, repositioning Branch as an ideal choice for their business

  • Report back on the ground truth. Transform what you're hearing in-territory - competitive intel, pricing friction, product gaps - into insights that inform broader IA strategy.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Underwriting, and Operations to resolve territory-level barriers to production.

How Success Is Measured

  • Growth: Bound premium and policy count from assigned territory, measured against target

  • Quality of business: % of growth against ideal customer profile (bundled home and auto customers with CovA between $400k-$1.2m)

  • Agent activation: % of target agencies actively producing with consistency

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • 5+ years in a quota- or target-carrying field sales role where you owned a defined geography or book of business. Independent agency distribution, territory/field sales, SaaS sales, or a comparable business development role preferred.

  • Demonstrated accountability to a specific production number.

  • Experience influencing the choices of independent professionals; your success depended on people choosing your product/service over alternatives, not on authority over them

  • Existing relationships with independent agencies in the assigned state(s) are helpful

  • Comfort and experience with managing a high-travel, self-directed field schedule

  • Strong in-person presentation and group training skills, with the ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with agency principals and producers.

  • Consultative selling acumen; able to diagnose why an agency is/isn't producing for Branch and address the actual barriers and opportunities.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn a technical, regulated product well enough to teach it. P&C insurance experience is preferred but not required - we’ll train the product and expect command of underwriting appetite, rating, and agency workflow in the first quarter.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
