You will join a team developing state-of-the-art general-purpose robots designed to operate in human spaces and with human tools. It is designed to work alongside humans, mobilize to human spaces, and manipulate the world around it.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Writer to join our innovative team in the cutting-edge field of humanoid robotics. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in translating complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for various audiences, including engineers, developers, and manufacturing teams. You will collaborate closely with engineers and various subject matter experts to ensure our documentation meets the highest standards of quality and usability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for humanoid robot software architecture, APIs, and codebases, catering to both internal engineering teams and external developers. 
  • Create manufacturing-style documents, including but not limited to assembly guides, maintenance manuals, and operational procedures for humanoid robot hardware.
  • Collaborate closely with software architects, engineers, and subject matter experts to gather information, understand complex technical concepts, and accurately reflect product functionality and design.
  • Manage the entire documentation lifecycle, from planning and drafting to review, publication, and ongoing updates, ensuring all materials are current and easily accessible.
  • Conduct thorough peer reviews of documentation produced by other teams. 
  • Advocate for documentation best practices and standards, continually seeking ways to improve processes, tools, and content quality. 
  • Ensure consistency in terminology, style, and tone across all documentation in accordance with established guidelines.

Skills and Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a fast-paced, highly technical environment, with at least 2 years in a senior capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience documenting complex software systems, including APIs, SDKs, and software architecture.
  • Proven ability to create clear, concise, and accurate manufacturing or hardware-related documentation.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles and familiarity with coding concepts (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Experience utilizing Jira for tracking documentation tasks and projects, maintaining transparency and efficiency within the development workflow.
  • Ability to leverage Confluence to organize the internal knowledge base.
  • Able to manage documentation version control using Bitbucket and Google Drive, ensuring traceability, collaboration, and proper change management.
  • Strong command of Google Workspace applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in robotics, AI, machine learning, or a related high-tech industry is
  • highly desirable.
