Job Description Summary

STEMCELL Technologies is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join the Research and Development team and support our goal of “Scientists Helping Scientists”!
As a Senior Technical Writer, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing life science product information in customer-facing materials such as product information sheets (PIS’s), user manuals, and website content. You will be a team representative and subject matter expert for cross-functional projects, as well as lead our poster generation and abstract review processes. As a collaborative and supportive key resource, this role will utilize your strong understanding of the scientific landscape and your attention to detail to help our global (and internal) customers.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain technical documents by applying clear and concise language to communicate complex scientific information, including on-time delivery of PIS’s for product launches

  • Lead abstract review and poster generation processes, ensuring delivery of high-quality scientific posters within short timeframes, and coordinate with the Technical Writing team to peer review external-facing product information such as posters, brochures, etc.

  • Review and manage completion of various scientific reports to support critical corporate budget activities

  • Maintain the database, including curation and maintaining all relevant files in an up-to-date, technically accurate, user-friendly manner while also ensuring internal consistency with other product information

  • Work collaboratively with scientists, product managers, and other relevant stakeholders to finalize various documentation through interdepartmental approval processes

  • Lead and mentor junior team members, including reviewing work produced and offering assistance

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences and previous experience in scientific writing and/or scientific research resulting in 6-10 years of experience; certification in technical writing is an asset

  • Fluent in English with outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly proficient in proofreading and copyediting, ideally with demonstrated experience editing multiple document types from different authors and completing standardized and templated documents (a portfolio or examples are recommended and seen as an asset)

  • Above average knowledge of Adobe Suite (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, inDesign) is required (scientific poster generation experience is desirable), as is extensive experience with Microsoft Word and Google Productivity tools

  • Experience using databases or performing data entry is an asset, as is any prior usage of product information management systems

The annual base salary for this job ranges from:

$81,700.00 - $122,500.00

STEMCELL determines an individual’s pay within the range based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization. For jobs that are eligible for sales incentives, the range noted above is inclusive of target incentives; actual incentives are based on individual performance results in accordance with company policy. In addition to base salary, STEMCELL offers a comprehensive total rewards package including health benefits, retirement savings, and more.
