Job Description

The Senior Technical Project Manager will use their knowledge of both agile and traditional project management principles and practices to manage all aspects of moderate-to-high complexity projects with a complex technical or software implementation component, including project planning, executing, controlling, and closing. They're also responsible for accurately assessing the progress of the project through visibility into the deeper technical layers and controlling any technical scope issues that arise. They will drive successful completion of an assigned project - on time and within budget, assuring the solution aligns with and meets the business objective. They will serve as a focal point for communications between the project teams and stakeholders to include Program Management, Project Sponsors, Product Management, and Engineering. They will develop appropriate control plans to promote/monitor adoption of the solution.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and project management methodologies to plan, monitor and implement projects so that they will complete on time and within budget assuring the solution aligns with / meets the business objective. (10%)
  • With the Project Leader, serve as the key point of contact for the project and request appropriate resources based on required skill sets. Ensure resource managers are aware of the level of commitment required of team members. (10%)
  • Keeps up-to-date and educated in skills related to all project management and ensures this information is disseminated throughout the process. Educates team members in project management principles, methods, processes and tools and provides input to team members' performance appraisal process. (10%)
  • Define execution plan and approach based on project scope, expected timeline and  budget/resources. (5%)
  • Coordinates the daily/weekly project team assignments and monitors progress against the work plan to assure that objectives are met within the prescribed time, cost, and quality measures. (5%)
  • Evaluate changes in scope and schedule, assess impact on project plan, and coordinate recommendations to the leadership team for adjustments in the project scheduled/budget. (5%)
  • Provide effective and timely project communications to the project team and key stakeholders, including project status reports and other required reporting. (5%)
  • Work with remote technical team members to coordinate day-to-day execution as per outlined plan. (5%)
  • Cooperate with and manage external vendors as required. (5%)
  • Collaborate with business and functional partners and technology leadership in defining features backlog and specifying requirements. (5%)
  • Drive technology discussion and strategy in line with business needs and company reference architecture. (5%)
  • Support execution team with resolution of roadblocks and interdependencies. Partner with technical and functional teams external to the project to ensure their tasks are completed as required. (5%)
  • Manage project risks, scope changes and other non-standard events throughout the life of the project. (5%)
  • Manage stakeholder communication and progress reporting. (5%)
  • Ensure quality of deliverables is verified and matching stakeholder expectations. (5%)
  • Track project outcomes realization and customer satisfaction levels through established metrics against service level. Ensure lessons learned are collected. (5%)
  • Works with impacted Business Units to ensure a quality implementation of project deliverables (technology, training, documentation, etc.) and that the new solution is adopted and new process control procedures are in place. Reviews project work products/deliverables to assure results align with the methodology/support the project objectives. (5%)

Qualifications

EDUCATION
 Bachelor's Degree (Required)

EXPERIENCE
 5 - 7 years Working experience on complex technical projects (Required)
 Experience working with agile engineering teams.
 Experience participating in multiple systems integration projects through an entire lifecycle.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of Project Management disciplines and processes.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Process Management, Financial Management/Analysis.
  • Proven ability to learn new products, develop functional knowledge and apply new skills in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrate experience leading both functional and technical teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to technical as well as functional resources.
  • Knowledge of technical architectures, data integration, and software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrate increasing understanding of product and project management.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize and lead a medium to moderately complex project leveraging project management methodology.
  • Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service.
  • Demonstrate skill running effective meetings and getting buy-in and participation from executive leaders.
  • Effectiveness working diplomatically across teams with varying objectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills across all levels.
  • Ability to organize and present project status reports, change management plans, and other related project information.
  • Facilitate governance, project reviews, steering, and other project related meetings.
  • Thorough understanding of project plans, risk plans, issue logs and their application.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing software development projects using Agile methodologies.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment.
  • Agile Leadership: Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. Coach teams on agile principles and ensure adherence to iterative delivery practices.

Additional Information

Base salary: $95,000-$135,000

Position is eligible for an annual bonus incentive program.

The ultimate compensation offered for the position will depend upon several factors such as skill level, cost of living, experience, and responsibilities.
