Join us on our mission to empower more people to find their way home by breaking barriers to entry, making the right connections, and building confidence through expert guidance.

At Realtor.com® , we are building products that empower millions of homebuyers, renters, and real estate professionals to navigate the journey of home ownership with confidence. Because data is our most strategic asset, we are seeking a Technical Program Manager (Data) to operationalize our business-led data strategy. In this role, you will be the bridge between our high-level mission and technical execution—driving operational excellence and managing the backlog of continuous improvement of data initiatives to ensure the reliability of the critical data that fuels our customer experiences.

As a TPM in our Data Function, you will lead large-scale, cross-functional programs that define our data strategy and governance. You will partner with engineering, product, and business leaders to align roadmaps, clarify accountabilities, and build robust data platforms.

This role requires a leader who thrives in ambiguity, can quickly assemble and coordinate cross-functional teams, and is adept at driving clarity and accountability in high-pressure situations. You should have a strong perspective on how to foster effective collaboration, manage competing priorities, and deliver results in a dynamic environment. You should be comfortable with tracking and leveraging metrics to support team health and performance, and advocating for continuous process improvement.

What you’ll do:

  • You will provide executives with clarity on program health, data ROI, and strategic alignment. Translate complex data architecture and data-quality incidents into high-level status reports.
  • Act as the Scrum Master for Data Engineering and Analytics squads. You will facilitate sprint ceremonies, manage the backlog, and ensure that technical debt and data governance are balanced with feature delivery.
  • Manage large-scale, cross-functional issues, driving root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
  • Collaborate with engineering, data governance, and business teams to define incident response protocols, escalation paths, and accountability frameworks.
  • You will translate business-led requirements into a technical data roadmap, ensuring that every pipeline we build serves a specific business objective.
  • Facilitate effective communication and alignment among technical and non-technical stakeholders during incident response and resolution.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports, post-incident reviews, and process improvement recommendations.

How We Work:

We balance creativity and innovation on a foundation of in-person collaboration. For most roles, our employees work three or more days in our offices, where they have the opportunity to collaborate in-person, adding richness to our culture and knitting us closer together.

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management, with a focus on large scale data program management, cross-functional issue resolution, or data governance and quality.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and incident management best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience in Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple complex projects and incidents simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Asana, Trello) and data-related platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, SQL).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive clarity and accountability in ambiguous and high-pressure situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and their data services.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM).
  • Experience with analytics and incident management tools.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
