Tatari is on a mission to revolutionize TV advertising. We work with some of your favorite disruptor brands—like Calm, Vuori, Rocket Money, and hundreds more—to grow their business using linear and streaming TV ads. Our platform combines sophisticated media buying with proprietary analytics to turn TV advertising into an automated, digital-like experience. Our technology and services are pushing the industry forward, enabling businesses of any size to advertise on TV.

Named one of the 16 Hottest Ad Tech Companies by Business Insider and Best Places to Work by Inc. Magazine, Tatari is experiencing rapid growth. Our executive team is comprised of former founders and senior leaders at fast-rising startups like Shazam, TrueCar, AdapTV, and LiveRail and larger, more established tech companies like Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Yahoo.

If you are a passionate and experienced Senior Technical Program Manager, please consider joining our team to help us dramatically grow Tatari’s presence and impact in the TV digital advertising market.  The TPM at Tatari brings clarity, smarts, and velocity to our product, engineering and data science development programs and processes. You will lead the way on setting this up for success from a technical, program and operational perspective. As the first TPM hired in the organization, you will have the opportunity to define the TPM function at Tatari.

This job is ideal for you if you have these skills. You know how to:

  • Expertly create and get alignment on software project charters and goals allowing stakeholders across engineering, product management, design, and data science to understand the bigger picture, rationale, and the context of their role in the team's success.
  • Build, maintain (and even stabilize) complex multi-phase project schedules spanning multiple teams, knowing how to factor in many dependencies and make adjustments over multiple time horizons.
  • Develop really thoughtful milestones/work backward plans that make complex efforts feel simple and understandable to all.
  • Continually reduce ambiguity, know how to catch curveballs, sniff out dependencies, surface important trade off decisions and orchestrate well-oiled projects and programs, achieving desired scope, hitting deadlines and goals.
  • Detect hidden risks or potential problems and see around corners, proactively working with cross functional teams to find solutions and remove roadblocks.
  • Free up engineering and product teams to truly focus on customer/product and technical strategy and execution.
  • Know how to tell the program or project story through the right combination of systems, ceremonies and communication devices, and other mechanisms that ensure people are well informed and heading in the same direction.
  • Interface with executive leadership (SVPs, CEO) with strong presentation skills. You have the ability to bring data with your decisions in a way that inspires confidence and trust from the executive leadership team.

This job is ideal for you if you like to work in these ways:

  • You earn credibility and influence without authority – via a thorough understanding of software development processes, project planning, strong technical and business acumen + customer-obsession.
  • With your strong technical and product acumen, you know how to natively talk to engineers, data scientists, product managers and designers.
  • You are known as a high-EQ clarifier and enabler for your teammates and bring rapid clarity to ambiguous or sticky situations.
  • You are relied upon as the context expert, and a clearinghouse of information and connective glue for your projects.
  • You think strategically and naturally seek out actionable big ideas and insights to continually improve processes
  • You have lots of backbone but are a savvy and keen listener who knows when to bend and when to hold firm on expectations. Your team respects you for this.
  • You are a master at knowing how and when to escalate, all while keeping teams motivated and grateful for your interventions.
  • You know how to read a room of technical experts to align them around shared business and technical objectives.
  • You love to amplify your impact by educating and mentoring the product and engineering communities on project management best practices.
  • You are willing to introduce lightweight frameworks as needed in order to bring incremental improvements to an organization, enable rapid iteration, and get people excited about changes. You meet people where they are and naturally mentor teams, understanding their specific challenges and adapt methodologies they can embrace.
  • You are a believer in the principles of Agile but know how to flexibly apply varying levels of Agile doctrine as needed. You are practical and understand that agile is done differently at every organization and your goal is to help the team be more effective by adapting your style to best help the team.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a Technical Program Manager or Technical Product Manager in software and SaaS development.
  • Experience in a startup environment collaborating across engineering, product, design and data science teams to facilitate cross team collaboration, planning, and communication in an agile and adaptive manner.
  • Deep experience in Agile & Scrum, and proficiency with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills
  • Ad Tech Experience a big plus
  • Nice to have: experience growing a software PMO function over time, either as a manager or as a contributor

Desirable Certifications (or equivalent work experience)

  • Certified Scrum Master and Product Owner - Scrum Alliance
  • Atlassian Certified Professional - Managing Jira Projects for Cloud
  • PMP certification or relevant work experience.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
