Job Description:

SailPoint is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive some of our most complex, business-critical initiatives for our Product organization.  We are looking for someone who has experience driving large organization wide initiatives. This individual is passionate about cultivating relationships and has experience influencing across organizational boundaries. You will manage a program from beginning to end to ensure we’re executing successfully and delivering amazing results.

Responsibilities:

  • Build strong trusting relationships with leaders across Engineering and Product Management
  • Keep cross-organizational/cross-functional teams focused on what is most important for the business & your program’s success
  • Manage and track program execution across multiple development teams to ensure successful, high-quality, on-time delivery
  • Identify and understand bottlenecks in the system and ruthlessly open them up including making and communicating tradeoffs
  • Anticipate, recognize, and work through risks, resistance or setbacks which impact program execution
  • Use technical judgement to drive strategic alignment & product delivery
  • Develop program plans & schedules covering all phases of the program lifecycle
  • Communicate clearly and regularly to executive stakeholders and audiences in a variety of ways (visually and verbally)
  • Provide thought leadership and a continuous improvement mindset to methodically work through problems/challenges

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience driving large programs and delivering excellent results - 4 of which must be in software product development (SaaS, Web App, etc.)
  • Ability to build frameworks to track and execute program direction
  • Highly evolved EQ and ability to adapt to the needs of the program and current maturity of the teams
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted and agent-orchestrated workflows to accelerate planning, tracking, and communication across complex, multi-team programs with sound judgment about when automation helps vs. when human oversight is required
  • Technical experience and knowledge of developing SaaS products - grounded in modern web technologies and agile processes
  • Passion for building partnerships and experience leveraging those to achieve success
  • Relentless passion and persistence and a focus on meeting commitments
  • Self-driven and highly motivated work ethic
  • Able to design and maintain program tracking in Jira & confluence that drive accountability and executive-ready visibility

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Exposure to product development in both large and small companies
  • (Bonus points!) Experience with Identity Management, Security or Governance
  • (Extra bonus) Experience operating within an Agentic SDLC — integrating AI agents into planning, delivery, and retrospectives at team or program scale

This roadmap outlines what success looks like in your first 6 months as Senior Technical Program Manager. It is a guide, not a checklist — priorities will shift as you learn the landscape. The goal is to build trust quickly, establish reliable program execution, and become a force multiplier for Engineering and Product leadership.

By 30 days — Introduction & Discovery

Objective: Understand the people, programs, and systems; identify where you can add immediate value.

  • Conduct 1:1s with key stakeholders across Engineering, Product, and Operations to map relationships, decision-makers, and current pain points.

  • Audit current Jira boards, filters, and dashboards (and Productboard where applicable) to understand in-flight initiatives, dependencies, and areas needing immediate program support.

  • Partner with Product leadership to inventory upcoming key initiatives and confirm launch readiness criteria (scope, owners, dependencies, and open risks).

  • Understand your program landscape: active initiatives, owning teams, current status, and known bottlenecks.

  • Identify 1–2 quick wins (examples: clearer status reporting, a missing cross-team cadence, or a Jira view that improves visibility) and deliver them.

  • Begin building your stakeholder communication rhythm (who needs what, how often, and in what format).

Success signals:

  • Stakeholders know who you are and what programs you own.

  • You can articulate the top 3–5 in-flight initiatives and their biggest risks.

  • Leadership has increased confidence in program visibility.

By 90 days — Planning & Early Execution

Objective: Own program direction for your highest-impact initiatives and establish the operating model to drive them.

  • Ensure there is clear ownership, priortization, and sequencing for the highest-impact initiatives with Engineering and Product leads.

  • Implement a solid operating model for portfolio governance cadences (program reviews, dependency syncs) for the area(s) you support.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for cross-team blockers (surface issues early, drive resolution, and communicate trade-offs clearly)

  • Build or refine Jira-based execution frameworks (JQL filters, dashboards, cross-team views) that teams actually use for accountability.

  • Introduce lightweight AI-assisted workflows where they add value (status synthesis, risk surfacing, or dependency summaries) with clear human oversight.

Success signals:

  • Programs have named owners, defined milestones, and a shared view of dependencies.

  • Blockers are identified and resolved faster than before you joined.

  • Leadership trusts your timelines and trade-off recommendations.

By 6 months — Portfolio Ownership & Continuous Planning

Objective: Operate as a trusted program owner driving predictable delivery across a portfolio of initiatives.

  • Own continuous planning for your program area(s) — not just point-in-time project plans.

  • Partner with your Product & Engineering counterparts to maintaine 3–6 month release plans and a 12-month high-level roadmap.

  • Drive cross-organizational alignment so Engineering and Product stay focused on what matters most for the business.

  • Proactively identify systemic bottlenecks (capacity, dependencies, process gaps) and work with leaders to open them — including making and communicating hard trade-offs.

  • Evolve tooling and practices toward a more agentic SDLC where appropriate – integrating AI-assisted planning, tracking, or retrospectives without sacrificing quality or accountability.

Success signals:

  • Initiatives in your portfolio deliver on commitments at a high rate, with surprises surfaced early.

  • Engineering and Product leaders proactively involve you in planning and trade-off discussions.

  • Roadmap and release plans are trusted, current, and used for decision-making.

  • You are seen as a thought partner, not just a status tracker.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
