Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
Your future team
Join the People Team, a dynamic group within Atlassian Corporate Engineering (ACE) focused on creating exceptional employee experiences that attract, hire, and grow our talent.
This role sits at the intersection of Product and AI, shaping how intelligent, data-driven systems power critical People experiences across the employee lifecycle. You will be responsible not just for delivering AI-enabled capabilities, but for ensuring they are high quality, trusted, and measurably impactful.
A core part of this role is defining how success is measured. You will establish the metrics, evaluation frameworks, and feedback loops that guide product and model decisions across the People domain.
Product Leadership
  • Define product vision and roadmap for AI-powered capabilities in the People space, grounded in employee and business outcomes.
  • Work backwards from user and business problems, translating ambiguity into clear product direction and success criteria.

AI & Evaluation Ownership
  • Define and own evaluation frameworks for AI-powered People experiences, including metrics, quality thresholds, LLM-as-a-judge approaches, and automated and human-in-the-loop eval pipelines.
  • Use quality and adoption signals to drive product decisions, model iteration, and rollout strategy.

Technical & Cross-functional influence
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the systems and workflows involved, and apply that understanding to shape product direction and solution design.
  • Partner with Engineering, Data, Security, and People teams to influence decisions, drive alignment, and deliver complex initiatives across organizational boundaries.

By taking on these responsibilities, you will drive meaningful change in how Atlassian delivers high-quality, trusted employee experiences at scale.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager
  • Strong product judgment and strategic thinking, with a proven ability to translate People and business objectives into clear priorities, success criteria, and outcomes.
  • Deep experience working with AI-powered products, including defining evaluation frameworks, success metrics, and quality thresholds.
  • Hands-on experience with AI evaluation approaches, such as LLM-as-a-judge, human-in-the-loop review, and automated evaluation, and using these signals to guide product decisions.
  • Strong understanding of complex systems and workflows, with the ability to engage meaningfully with partners without being hands-on in implementation.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives, influencing without authority across senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills, especially in highly ambiguous problem spaces.

Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: USD $200,700 - USD $262,025
Zone B: USD $180,900 - USD $236,175
Zone C: USD $167,400 - USD $218,550
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
Please visit go.atlassian.com/payzones for more information on which locations are included in each of our geographic pay zones. However, please confirm the zone for your specific location with your recruiter.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
