MongoDB’s mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build and run applications anywhere—on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 new developers signing up to use MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

We’re seeking a Senior Technical Evangelist to lead engagement across MongoDB’s AI Startup & Venture ecosystem, with a focus on our growing AI capabilities. As more developers and startups turn to MongoDB to power intelligent applications, you’ll play a critical role in helping them get started—meeting them where they are, from global conferences and community meetups to hackathons and startup accelerators. You’ll be a trusted voice in the AI space, inspiring builders through live demos, technical talks, and hands-on support that accelerates their journey with MongoDB. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in real-world settings, excels at translating and presenting complex concepts, and is passionate about helping early-stage teams bring AI-powered ideas to life.

You're self-directed, highly organized, and energized by real-world engagement—whether that's delivering keynotes, leading technical sessions, or mentoring early-stage teams. With 5+ years of experience as a data scientist, developer, or customer-facing engineer, you’ve built credibility by sharing and contributing code, publishing content, and speaking at events that move the AI conversation forward. You’re eager to deepen your expertise in MongoDB’s AI features—like Voyage AI embedding models, vector search and aggregation pipelines—while advocating for best practices in document modeling and data architecture. In this high-visibility role, you’ll work closely with Marketing, Sales, Product, and Partnerships to shape thought leadership and drive adoption across MongoDB’s startup ecosystem.

Position expectations:
  • Establish yourself as a trusted expert in ML/AI and database technologies, becoming a recognized authority both within MongoDB and across the wider developer and founder communities
  • Actively represent MongoDB at conferences, founder meetups, hackathons, and other events by delivering engaging live demos, insightful technical talks, and interactive hands-on sessions focused on AI/ML
  • Build, nurture, and grow an active, vibrant community by supporting early-stage startups and founders building with MongoDB by providing practical guidance and encouraging collaboration
  • Create and distribute a variety of high-quality technical content—such as code samples, blog posts, videos, and presentations—that clearly demonstrate MongoDB’s AI/ML capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Sales, and Partnerships teams to coordinate go-to-market strategies, develop authentic messaging and content together, and lead programs that increase MongoDB adoption and growth within the startup community
The right candidate for this role will have:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI and machine learning with strong expertise in integrating these technologies with databases and a proven track record of engaging developer audiences through presentations, educational materials, and live events
  • Demonstrated ability to build machine learning solutions, specializing in one or more machine or deep learning workflows that work seamlessly with database systems
Successful experience delivering technical presentations to a variety of audiences via conferences, hackathons, demo days, webinars, and other platforms – translating complex ideas into clear, engaging content
  • Consistent creator of developer-focused resources such as tutorials and how-to guides that support learning and encourage adoption
  • Willingness to attend community events and conferences as needed, with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend commitments

To drive the personal growth and business impact of our employees, we’re committed to developing a supportive and enriching culture for everyone. What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
